Students there review that "Placements are good. Almost all students get placed. 95% of the students get placed. The remaining few will also get placed later. The companies are TCS, Arc servers, Math works The average package is 5 lakhs "

So, you can hope for decent placements there.

It would be easier to get placements in software side more because the number of software and IT companies that visit the campus are more.

However, one should take up subjects based on their interests as in my opinion because there are many opportunities in petroleum industry too.

I am sorry to tell you but under SFN , you are NOT ELIGIBLE for AICTE scholarship
Actually,  there are four different kind of seats available in APPGECET .
They are:-

1. RGS: Regular Course GATE/GPAT candidates are ELIGIBLE for AICTE scholarship,
2. RGN: Regular Course GATE/GPAT candidates are NOT ELIGIBLE for AICTE scholarship.
3. SFS: Self Finance GATE/GPAT candidates are ELIGIBLE for AICTE scholarship and .
4. SFN: Self Finance- GATE/GPAT candidates are NOT ELIGIBLE for AICTE scholarship GATE/GPAT candidates are NOT ELIGIBLE for Reimbursement of Tuition Fee by the State Government.

Yes.  Fees reimbursement to reserved class and economically weaker class students are only given in government financed colleges. If you select self financed, fee reimburesement will be present for you but it is based on the submission of income certificate,ie., you need to submit the proof. For APPGECET qualified candidates, fee reimbursement eligibility is based on their submission of income certificate or ration card for all types of courses.  If you wish to get scholarship in self finance college, you must appear for scholarship programs.
