Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering is a four-year (8 Semesters) full-time undergraduate program offered at National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has traversed the path of knowledge dissemination and generation. The department feels proud about producing over 4500 Mechanical Engineering graduates to serve the Nation. Over these glorious years of its journey, it has carved a niche for itself in the key areas of teaching, research, consultancy, administration and community services. The Department of Mechanical Engineering gives priority to update the Mechanical Engineering education, primarily driven by the dynamics of technological advances and sustainable development and the curriculum is revised on a continuous basis with the active involvement of industry, alumni, research organizations and other stakeholders.

Eligibility Criteria

Must have passed class XII (or equivalent) Board examination with a minimum of five subjects and secured at least 75% aggregate marks. The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates should be at least 65%.

Admission Details

Admission to all courses will be made in the odd semester of each session at the first year level based on the relative performance in the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE-Main) and qualifying examination as per the guidelines issued by the MHRD, New Delhi from time to time.

NITK's campus is renowned for its exceptional facilities. With spacious classrooms, well-equipped labs, comfortable hostels, and a comprehensive library, it provides an ideal environment for learning and personal growth. The sports facilities add to the holistic experience. NITK offers a perfect blend of academic excellence and a vibrant campus life. Living spaces still require work and maintenance but it's manageable.

College Infrastructure

Infrastructure, facilities and equipment is not at all a problem in here at NIT K, Surathkal. We have all the labs and sophisticated equipment since it's not just an engineering college, its also one of the leading research institutions of india. All the PCs in the laboratory are linux based making it easier for the students. All the faculty are provided with MACs for their convinence. We have 150 Mbps internet spread over the campus of 300 acres.

A nice campus we have.

College Infrastructure

College infrastructure is so nicely constructed that I really like it. All classrooms, laboratories, libraries are well furnished. Canteens are well equipped. WiFi facility all around the college is of very good speed.
