48 MonthsBachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Mining Engineering is a four-year (8 Semesters) full-time undergraduate program offered at National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal.
The Department of Mining Engineering was established in the year 1984 and about 750 undergraduates passed out from the portals of the department till 2017. Several girls obtained their B. Tech Mining Degree from this department. The Department also offers M.Tech (Research) programme in Rock Excavation Technology and Management and Ph.D in Mining Engineering. The department celebrated its Silver Jubilee during 2009-10.

Admission Details
Admission to all courses will be made in the odd semester of each session at the first year level based on the relative performance in the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE-Main) and qualifying examination as per the guidelines issued by the MHRD, New Delhi from time to time.

College Infrastructure
Here we have two hostel For Btech first and second year students, the hostels are very very old but they are good enough. They all have common bathrooms but they are well ventilated. And for third and fourth year we have Mega Towers which are very nice. In Mega Towers, we have separate rooms for each person and a common bathroom shared by about 10-12 people. Classrooms:- There are 3 Lecture Halls name LHC - A, B and C. LHC C is the best among all of them and LHC A is the worst.
