Bipin Tripathi Kumaon Institute of Technology was established in 1986 as Kumaon Engineering College by Shri Narayan Dutt Tiwari, Government of India. The institute was renamed Bipin Tripathi Kumaon Institute of Technology in 2011. The college is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The autonomous institute is also recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). BTKIT Dwarahat has also been selected for TEQIP-III project. TEQIP-III is a quality improvement programme of the Government of India, funded by the World Bank. The campus of the college spreads over an area of 155 acres of land.
The college offers courses in the fields of engineering and computer science. The courses offered by BTKIT Dwarahat are B.Tech, M.Tech, M.C.A. and Ph.D. The courses are affiliated to Uttarakhand Technical University Dehradun and are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institute has a total 33 well-qualified faculty members. The total number of students enrolled at present is 1335. The mission of the college is to impart quality education through research and innovations with the vision of creating professionals to serve society and the nation.

Infrastructure of college is too good. It is situated on hill near Ranikhet. The weather throughout the year is good for studies. Facilities are also good they provide clean water in hostels and in college. Hostels are also clean and food is also hygienic.
College infrastructure is too good and spread across around 70 acres. There are around 9 hostels in the campus. All classrooms are smart class rooms having smart boards and projector. College has full wifi access, all the laboratories, libraries and a large sport complex. Hostel are good and hygienic.
Yes college has all necessities like infrastructure and facilities but there was one problem with the area that the water supply you do not have good water supply and sometimes you have to put some bucket for the water.
