The Department of History is one of the principal humanities departments of the College. The Honours programme has a balanced course content covering the evolution of human civilization from time immemorial to recent times. A comparative analysis of historical developments in India and the world is provided to students during the three years of study. The course prepares students to pursue careers in academics, research, civil services, journalism, mass communication, law, archaeology, museum studies, and tourism. The faculty consists of specialists in diverse fields who have contributed extensively in their areas of interest.

Qualifying examinations for the purpose of admission to the first year of undergraduate courses offered by the University of Delhi shall be Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the Central Board of Secondary Education or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto. The applicants seeking admission to the undergraduate courses offered by the University should have passed the qualifying examination obtaining minimum marks as specified for each of the courses in subsequent sections.

College infrastructure is really good. From library to labs, sports centre ,hostel and mess food also all are fine . We all are happy with the facilities that college provides us . They are all well maintained.
Infrastructure is really very good . No words is there to explain the beauty of this college. Labs are well equipped and there are new equipment also . All the experiments are performed time to time . Hostels and mess food is just upto the mark . It needs to be improved.
Hansraj College has a very good Infrastructure right from classrooms to the canteen, sports Centre.Library is well equipped with wide range of sources and good conditions to read ,sports room provides good quality equipment and canteens are also well located with a wide range of food varieties. There are few classrooms which infrastructure is up to the mark .
