36 MonthsBachelor of Science (B.Sc) Honours in Mathematics is a full-time three-year undergraduate degree course offered by the University of Calcutta, Kolkata.
The department then started teaching Honours Course from 1960 under the able guidance of Sm. Protibha Deb. Since then most of the students studying Mathematics Honours have completed this course with flying colors, some meritorious ones securing University rank, even one student of this department got highest marks among all students completing Bachelor course in all streams of science, arts, and commerce of the University of Calcutta in a recent year.
Finally, the department started teaching its Post Graduate Course from 2006 with academic autonomy under the University of Calcutta, with constant encouragement and support from then Principal Dr. Sanghamitra Mukherjee, previously a faculty of this department. The syllabus of this course was specially designed and a very modern field of study 'Soft Computing' was introduced as a special paper. Well known and reputed teachers have delivered lectures and taught for the PG course.
Eligibility Criteria
A candidate passed in the higher secondary examination (10+2) or appearing in Higher Secondary examination in the current academic year with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology as major subjects in science stream from any the recognized board.
