Im frm tier 3 college. I have btech in Biomedical Engineering and soon will be graduating with mtech in Biomedical instrumentation. Not interested in teaching, i want go for job . my pg 1yr i realized my major field pays very less than other domain. I planning to switch majors. For me/mtech in control and instrumentation or me/mtech in chemical engineering.... im really confused what to choose
Hello Dear candidate,
The choice between mtech in Control Instrumentation and mtech in Chemical Engineering totally depends on your interest or career goal. If you are interested in designing and operation of chemical processes, you should go for chemical engineering. While if your interest lies in automation, measurement, or control system across different engineering fields, you should go for Control Instrumentation. While, Chemical engineering provides borad and more job opportunities, Control and instrumentation roles may offer higher Starting salary in certain sectors. But the pay between these two heavily depends on institute, company, location, experience and role.
Hope you find this helpful.
Thank You.
Since you already have a background in Biomedical Engineering and Biomedical Instrumentation, shifting to MTech in Control and Instrumentation would be a better and smoother transition than Chemical Engineering. It aligns well with your existing technical base in sensors, automation, and signal systems, and offers more job opportunities in industries like manufacturing, robotics, and process automation. Chemical Engineering, on the other hand, would require learning a completely new domain and might not utilize your current skills effectively.
