M.Sc. M.Tech Course Admission process

Most colleges/universities conduct common entrance exams to admit candidates to the M.Sc. M.Tech integrated course. However, a specific number of ‘paid’ seats are offered for direct admission. The entrance exams usually evaluate candidates on the chosen subject and common topics such as current affairs and general knowledge. Candidates are advised to familiarise themselves with the syllabus and pattern of the entrance exam to perform well.


Here is a step by step admission procedure for M.Sc. M.Tech course:

Step I: Visit the website and fill the online application form. Make sure the details are accurate before paying the fee and submitting the application.

Step II: Upon successful application submission, download the admit card when it is released. The admit card contains important details about the exam date, centre, application number and more. Candidates must have the downloaded admit card entrance examination day.

Step III: Candidates must appear for the entrance exam on the scheduled date and centre specified in the admit card by the exam conducting authority. The question paper will consist of MCQ-based questions only.

Step IV: College/universities will release a list of shortlisted candidates who will then undergo a counselling process for seat allocation based on merit.

M.Sc. M.Tech Entrance Examination

BHU PET: BHU PET is the abbreviated name of Banaras Hindu University Postgraduate Entrance Test. It is conducted to provide admissions to eligible candidates in postgraduate programmes running in university.


AUCET: AUCET stands for Andhra University Common Entrance Test. It is conducted to provide admissions in various academic disciplines offered by the university.

GATE: GATE is short form for Graduate Aptitude for Engineering, which is currently conducted by IIT (Kharagpur). The entrance examination is conducted for various engineering disciplines such as aerospace engineering, biotechnology, agricultural engineering and several other courses, across IITs, NITs and IIITs.

There are no mandatory internships for the M.Sc. M.Tech integrated course. However, students receive industry exposure via field training, summer training, and excursion trips throughout the course duration. Besides, students also visit different geophysical laboratories and specialised establishments to gain hands-on experience of various geophysical procedures, exploration methods and activities.
