Andhra University is located in Vizag which is surely in a more developed location than SVU which is in Tirupati. So for recreational purposes, AU would have more better opportunities. In terms of academics and projects, both are almost equal. However, SVU has better rankings and is known for encouraging research and projects, which would also be a bonus in your m.tech journey.

AU takes admission of students who have appeared GATE on the basis of cutoff specified by the GATE Board. As per your mentioned details, you have specified that your friend have qualified GATE so he/she is eligibile to take admission in the college.So let him/her apply for the college and give high prority to VLSI to get an admission. There is a high chance of your friend getting admission in VLSI but there is also very high competition as there are many students with qualified score. So it totally depends on your friends' luck. Hope he/she get their desired seat.
