Dr R Ahmed Dental College and Hospital, Kolkata Admission Process

Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College and Hospital, Kolkata, has been one of the prestigious institutions in West Bengal for the delivery of dental education. This college, approved by the Dental Council of India, has a very strict entrance system for choosing the natural and most deserving candidates.  The only thing that people, especially students, tend to go through is the presence of academic entrance tests, through which the official admission process of Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College and Hospital is based on national entrance test scores specifically. The admission takes place through the respective successful scores of NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) for its undergraduate course, BDS. Whereas MDS courses are taken after one has cleared NEET MDS. These tests are effective enough to provide an equal platform to many young and sharp minds across Nepal.

Eligibility for getting admission into BDS Program would require any candidate to have completed his/her 10+2 with mandatory subjects being Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Selection is solely based on the NEET marks of the aspirant and then followed by counseling. A student interested in MDS should have already completed his/her BDS degree in addition to the score achieved by him/her in the NEET MDS examination. Normally, the admission season is in tandem with the NEET and NEET MDS examinations. As a result, the candidates are advised to keep an eye on the application submission, counseling, and admission confirmation dates on the website of Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College and Hospital.  

Application Process

There are different application procedures by which the applicant can apply to the Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College and Hospital.

For the BDS Program:

  1. Appear in the NEET examination.
  2. Register for stateg/ central governing body of NSW for counseling whenever asked.
  3. The application form for R. Ahmed Dental College and Hospital shall be filled during the counseling.
  4. On the being allotted seat, visit the college for admission confirmation furnish all required documents and fee.

For MDS Programs:

  1. The candidate must have qualified the NEET MDS exam.
  2. Register for the governing body's counseling process pertaining to the respective state/ central government for MDS admissions.
  3. Fill out the application form for Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College and Hospital during the counseling process.
  4. If informed, attend any further interviews or selection process, if any, conducted by the college.
  5. If selected, complete the formalities for admission, including document verification and fee payment.

Degree-wise Admission Process

BDS: Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College & Hospital offers a Bachelor's degree in Dental surgery, for which there are 100 seats have been assigned. Admission in this course is entirely made through the marks scored in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The overall fee for the program works out to INR 37,100. The higher secondary examination should have been passed from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as subjects for a student to be able to get admission to this programme.

MDS: The MDS program has 30 combined seats in specializations given. Admission into MDS programs is assessed according to the NEET MDS standard. The cost for study stands at INR 30,000. Candidates are required to have completed BDS and must enroll for MDS with the following specializations:

  1. MDS Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge - 5 seats
  2. MDS Periodontology - 5 seats
  3. MDS Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics - 5 seats
  4. MDS Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry - 5 seats
  5. MDS Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics - 4 seats
  6. MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery - 4 seats
  7. MDS Oral Pathology - 4 seats.

Documentation:

  • NEET scorecard
  • 10th and 12th standards mark-sheet and certificates
  • BDS degree certificate and mark sheets (only for MDS applicants)
  • Valid ID proof
  • Passport size photos
  • Caste certificate, if applicable
  • Any other documents that are mentioned necessary by the institution.

• SC/ST/OBC - 40th percentile

• General-PwD - 45th percentile

• SC/ST/OBC-PwD - 40th percentile


Marks wise cut off is as following-

• General - 720-138

• OBC/SC/ST - 137-108

• Gen PwD - 137-122

• (OBC /SC / ST ) PwD - 121-108


Though it was expected that due to higher difficulty level of examination cut-off for colleges will decrease, but it turns out students have performed exceptionally well and the cut offs for colleges is expected to increase compared to last year.


See it is quite difficult to help you with the exact list of colleges as the counselling is yet to be conducted and the cut-offs keep on changing every year.
