      Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH Purnea) is one of the most excellent medical colleges of Bihar.       The admission to Government Medical College and Hospital, Purnea is largely through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET UG. It is a national-level entrance test conducted annually for undergraduate medical programmes in India. The NEET UG scores are considered while selecting the candidates in this admission process. The college is affiliated with Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna.

      Government Medical College and Hospital Application Process

      The admission process to the MBBS programme at GMCH Purnea is as follows:

      • The candidate should register for the NEET UG exam on the official NTA website. The process includes filling up the application form, uploading necessary documents, and paying the examination fee.
      • Appear for the NEET UG examination on the scheduled date. The examination tests the knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at the 10+2 level.
      • When the result of NEET UG is declared, cross-check your marks along with the All India Rank obtained by you.
      • If eligible, then get registered for the counselling process of Bihar state. Generally, it consists of filling up the online application form and the payment of relevant fees.
      • Report to document verification as scheduled by the counseling authority of the state. Carry all the original documents including NEET UG score card, 10 + 2 mark sheet, domicile certificate, if required, and category certificates, if required.
      • Candidates are allotted seats in different medical colleges by states based on preference, available seat, and NEET UG rank, including GMCH Purnea.
      • In case seats are allotted to GMCH Purnea, attend the respective college for the final admission procedure, which may include deposition of admission fee, original documents, and medical check-up.

      Government Medical College and Hospital MBBS Admission Process

      The basic course of study which the college gives is a course called the MBBS under the auspices of GMCH Purnea. The process of MBBS will be purely merit-based; those candidates who attain higher ranks in the NEET UG entrance exam will only get admitted for this programme. A total of 100 students are allowed as an intake under GMCH Purnea's MBBS course.

      For MBBS entrance, the qualification needed is 10+2 by scoring well in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. In addition to this, the candidate needs to achieve percentiles as per NMC or Bihar State Government for admission through NEET UG as well. Then comes centralised counseling with NEET score, document verification, and a medical check-up by medical doctors.
