TMC Thiruvarur Admission Process

Thiruvarur Medical College, Thiruvarur (TMC Thiruvarur) by the government as a prestigious medical college. The medical college provides services for a range of undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs. TMC Thiruvarur features selective admission to high academic achievers. Admission to the institution is based mainly on national-level entrance examination, thereby ensuring just and competitive selection of candidates. For undergraduate admissions, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is the mandatory entrance exam. 

Additionally, for postgraduate admissions, the `National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate` (NEET-PG) is the selection criterion through which such admissions are processed. Conducted annually, NEET-UG will be held in May, while NEET-PG will take place in January. For MBBS, the eligibility requirement is to have completed the 10+2 level of education with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as mandatory subjects. For postgraduate courses, the candidates need to hold an MBBS degree from a recognized institution and clear the NEET-PG exam.

Application Process

The application process for TMC Thiruvarur differs based on the program:

For MBBS:

  1. Qualify for the NEET-UG exam.
  2. Register for the state counseling process (for Tamil Nadu state quota seats) or participate in the All India Quota counseling.
  3. Fill out the application form, which will be available on the official website of the Tamil Nadu medical selection committee.
  4. Submit the application form along with required documents including NEET score card, 10-2 mark sheet, domicile certificate if applicable, and category certificate if applicable.
  5. Pay as prescribed in application fee.
  6. Attend counseling if called on merit list basis.
  7. Report to TMC Thiruvarur for document verification and admission formalities if allotted to a seat.

For MD/MS Programs:

  1. Qualify NEET-PG examination.
  2. Register for the respective state PG counseling process or All India Quota PG counseling.
  3. Fill in the application form available on the designated counseling website.
  4. Upload required documents including NEET-PG score card, MBBS bonafide certificate, internship completion, and other certificates.
  5. Pay the application fee.
  6. Take part in the online counseling process for seat allocation.
  7. Upon allotment of seat in TMC Thiruvarur, join for document verification and admission process at the college.

Documents will generally include:

  • NEET score card (UG or PG as applicable)
  • 10th and 12th marksheets
  • MBBS degree certificate and marksheets (for PG admissions)
  • Completion certificate of internship (for PG admissions)
  • Transfer certificate

Degree wise Admission Process

MBBS: TMC has opened admission to 100 students for MBBS. The selection process is based upon the score from NEET-UG. The application will be open in February for the examination, which will be held in May. Results are usually announced by June for the counseling sessions.

MD/MS Programs: These are a few postgraduate programs offered by TMC Thiruvarur. MD General Medicine (8), MD Anaesthesiology (6), MD Paediatrics (3), MS General Surgery (10), MS Orthopaedics (3), MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology (2), and MD Emergency Medicine (2). Admission to the above programs will be done through NEET-PG. The NEET-PG exam is usually conducted in January, and the results are announced in March.

For all postgraduate courses, students must be MBBS graduates of recognized universities and have completed the compulsion of internship completion. Admissions are based on the NEET-PG score followed by counseling.
