Guru Nanak College of Nursing, Dhahan Kaleran Admission Process

Guru Nanak College of Nursing, Dhahan Kaleran, is one of the preeminent nursing colleges in North India. It is affiliated with the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and therefore provides nursing education, especially for females. It is located in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Punjab, and the institute occupies a sprawling 3-acre campus.

The admission procedure in Guru Nanak College of Nursing assesses the eligibility and readiness of candidates in nursing courses—even contrary to the notions associated with admissions by other colleges. The College is endowed with a selective admission process to ensure that the students admitted are capable of meeting the standards of education required by the intensive nursing programs.

Usually, admissions to Guru Nanak College of Nursing are open well in advance of the academic year commencing. Eligibility criteria: Admission eligibility generally differs according to the nursing program. Candidates usually have to have completed their 10+2 with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) from a recognized board. For post-basic programs, the entry requirement is that candidates must have a basic nursing qualification.

Application Process

  1. Announcement of Admissions: The college pronounces admission through its communicational official avenue.

  2. Application Form: Such candidates need to collect the application form and fill it out. It might be available personally at the college admissions office.

  3. Dossier Submission: In addition to submitting the completely filled application form, the candidates will also be required to submit all the required documents. These shall comprise:

    • Mark sheets for 10th and 12th standard

    • School leaving certificate

    • Character certificate

    • Medical fitness certificate

    • Caste certificate (wherever applicable)

    • For Post Basic B.Sc Nursing: GNM Certificate and Registration Certificate

  4. Entrance Examination: Based on the subject one is applying for, candidates must appear for an entrance exam. Its details, syllabus, and pattern would be communicated to the applicants.

  5. Preparation of Merit List: Merit lists based on academic performance and entrance exams results (if any) is framed.

  6. Counseling and Seat Allotment: Shortlisted candidates would be called for counseling, allotment of seats on a merit basis depending on availability.

  7. Payment of Fees and Admission Confirmation: Candidates selected to be admitted to the program should pay the fees prescribed and produce original documents to confirm admission.

Degree-wise Admission Process 

  • B.Sc Nursing:
    This is a four-year, undergraduate program with a sanctioned intake of 50 seats. The candidates must be 10+2 pass in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. There may also be consideration for 10+2 for admission purposes and, perhaps, an entrance test.

  • GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery):
    This program also has an approved admission capacity of 50 seats. The eligibility requirement usually entails completing 10+2 in science subjects. An entry test may be undertaken for selection, along with consideration of academic performance.

  • Post Basic B.Sc Nursing:
    This program has 25 seats. It is purposefully meant for registered nurses who have completed their GNM or equivalent qualification. The admission process may likely evaluate previous nursing qualifications and work experience.
