Maharshi Vashishtha Autonomous State Medical College, Basti or Government Medical College (GMC) Basti is an independent government institution set up by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in India for the well genuine motive of providing quality education in the stream of Medical Science. The institute admits students to a 5.5-year-long MBBS course and has a very rigorous admission process for it.

GMC Basti carries the admission mechanism that runs through the channel of the National eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), which is organised on an all-India basis by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET is an on-all-india level entrance exam conducted as a single channel to all medical colleges in India.
