Malabar Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Modakkallur Admission Process

Dr. H. K.N. Rao Malabar Medical College Hospital Research Centre ranks among one of the eminent medical institution situated at Modakkallur, Kerala. The college offers both undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs through a tough selection mode to keep the choices of the best candidates. The institute is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and follows a standardized admission procedure on the basis of national-level entrance examinations.  The process of admission begins with the conducting of the NEET-UG examination, followed by allotment and counselling.

Postgraduate admissions to Malabar Medical College are provided on the bases of merit in NEET-PG scores. The college offers numerous courses under MD and MS, with set quota distribution for each. Worthy mention concerning the most sought-after courses which generally include MD General Medicine, MD Paediatrics, MS Orthopaedics as well as MS Obstetrics and Gynecology, each of which has an intake capacity of 4 seats. The minimum admission eligibility criterion for an MBBS degree is successfully completing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects. Those students aspiring to postgraduate admission in various programs should have completed MBBS from a recognized university. 

Application Process

Malabar Medical College Hospital and Research Center application procedure is different for each program:

For MBBS:

  1. Take the NEET-UG examination.
  2. Register for the state counselling process (85% state quota seats) or management quota (15% seats).
  3. Participate in the counselling process and document verification process.
  4. If allotted a seat complete the admission formalities at the college. 

For the MD/MS Programs:

  1. Qualify the NEET-PG examination. 
  2. Apply through the centralized counseling process for postgraduate medical admissions.
  3. Participate in the counseling rounds according to the schedule announced by the authorities. 
  4. If selected, self-report to Malabar Medical College for document verification and admission. 

Generally, the following are some of the admission documents:

  • NEET score card (UG or PG as applicable)
  • 10th and 12th Standard mark sheets and certificates
  • MBBS degree certificate and mark sheets (for PG admissions)
  • Valid ID proof
  • Domicile certificate (if applicable)
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Latest passport-sized photographs.

Degree-wise Admission Process

MBBS: Admission into the MBBS course at Malabar Medical College shall be based on NEET-UG scores. There are 200 total intakes for this degree course. Admission shall entail counseling and allotment of seats through the centralized admission system. NEET-UG scores or the state's Common Entrance Test (CET) will fill up 85% of the seats while 15% would be allocated under the Management/NRI quota.

MD/MS Programs: The college offers a variety of postgraduate programs, among which MD General Medicine has 4 seats allocated to it and MD Paediatrics also has 4 allocated seats. Other courses maintained by this college include MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology (4), MS Orthopaedics (4), MD Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy (3), MD Pathology (3), and MD Emergency Medicine (3). There are also other master's programs like General Surgery, ENT, Anaesthesiology, etc.: (2 seats each).

Entrance to all MD/MS programs shall be based on NEET-PG scores. The candidate will also have to qualify other eligibility criterions as per NMC guidelines after completing the MBBS degree.

Dear Aspirant,

Nowadays in B.Tech hostels, two boys or 3 boys live in large rooms as compared to those who are 2 in the room, or even it depends on college if rooms are left out single boy can also reside. Likely in private colleges, you have to live with 2 or 3 boys in a room. But in government colleges it really doesn't happen they are getting more space.
