      National Institute of Locomotor Disabilities (NILD), Kolkata, is a premier autonomous institute focusing exclusively on locomotor disabilities. The NILD offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Physiotherapy and Prosthetics & Orthotics.       For all courses, NILD conducts admissions on the basis of national-level entrance tests.       National Institute of Locomotor Disabilities Application Process

      • Candidates shall appear for the respective national-level entrance tests on the chosen programme (BPT, BPO, MPT, or MPO).
      • The eligible candidates must fill in the NILD application form after the entrance test notification of results. The application form will most probably be available on the official NILD website.

      • If required, shortlisted candidates are to sit for another admission test or interview at NILD.
      • Based on the scores in the entrance exam and in additional tests/interviews (if any), a merit list of selected candidates shall be prepared by NILD
      • Selected candidates will confirm their admission by payment of admission fees and submission of original documents within the stipulated time.
      • After admission, students may have to undergo a medical examination to assess their physical fitness to follow the course.

      NILD is presently offering four full-time courses, thereby showing a very focused approach to education in the area of locomotor disabilities. Students can check the course details mentioned below

      National Institute of Locomotor Disabilities BPT Admission Process

      BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy): NILD has 30 seats in BPT. The admission into this programme is based on a national-level entrance test. The BPT programme imparts knowledge and skills in physiotherapy as related to locomotor disabilities

      National Institute of Locomotor Disabilities BPO Admission Process

      BPO (Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics): A maximum of 28 seats are offered for the BPO programme. Similar to the BPT, National Institute of Locomotor Disabilities admission is by the national-level entrance exam. Important skills in prosthetics and orthotics are imparted to students in this course, with reference to rehabilitation of locomotor disabilities.

      National Institute of Locomotor Disabilities MPT Admission Process

      MPT Orthopaedics (Master of Physiotherapy in Orthopaedics): There are 4 seats available for this specialised postgraduate programme at NILD. Admission is via a national-level entrance test for MPT. It attempts to upgrade the skill of students in the area of orthopaedic physiotherapy.

      National Institute of Locomotor Disabilities MPO Admission Process

      MPO (Master of Prosthetics and Orthotics): The admissions to the MPO programme are via a national-level entrance test. This postgraduate course aims to provide advanced study in prosthetics and orthotics.

      National Institute of Locomotor Disabilities Documents Required

      Applicants need to submit some documents along with the application. These are:

      • Entrance exam score card
      • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets
      • Graduation mark sheets (for PG applicants)
      • Category certificates (if applicable)
      • Any other certificate as specified by the institute
