It was a good experience. 3 years of BCOM in sports management. I was a cricket player during my school days and I used to represent my club. The course was introduced by Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics affiliated with Ironwood Institute Limited, we were the first batch passing out through Sydenham College and it was a very great journey as we got to study as well as participate in managing events. Our 3 years of experience included working in events like Khelo India Youth Games, Indian Premier League, Ultimate table tennis league, I League and many more events. It was a great experience as we got lots of on field opportunities with studying. This course gave us a reason to stay connected with our passion that is sports as well as study and get a degree in sports management background with the future vision of us working in big leagues someday with our favorite players and teams. We have air conditioned classrooms with digital whiteboards and good quality teachers with sports as well as academic knowledge. The college has good infrastructure best facility
College Infrastructure
The college infrastructure is modern and well-maintained. Classrooms are equipped with smart boards and air ventilation. Labs are fully functional with updated equipment. The library has a good collection of textbooks, journals, and reference materials. Wi-Fi is available across the campus, though sometimes slow during peak hours. The campus is clean, and there are dedicated study zones for students. Hostel facilities are satisfactory with clean rooms, water purifiers, and mess services. Sports grounds and indoor game rooms are decent too.
Academics
The academic curriculum is well-structured and regularly updated as per the latest guidelines. Faculty members are knowledgeable, approachable, and helpful during both lectures and practicals. Teaching methods include smart classes, models, and live demonstrations, which enhance understanding. Internal assessments and exams are conducted timely, helping students stay on track. There is regular emphasis on attendance, clinical exposure, and case discussions, especially useful for MBBS students. Notes, presentations, and mentoring support are also provided.
Placements
Placements largely depend on the course. For technical and professional courses like B.Tech or MBA, companies do visit, and average packages are moderate. However, in medical colleges (like MBBS), placement is not the usual norm as students must complete their internship and further PG studies. Most students prepare for NEET-PG, USMLE, or other entrance exams. The college provides guidance for further education and offers occasional seminars or workshops for career planning, but formal placement drives are limited.
Campus Life
Campus life is lively and engaging with a mix of academics, cultural events, and student activities. Various clubs, fests, and annual functions like sports meets, cultural nights, and fresher’s parties offer great opportunities for interaction and recreation. The college has separate areas for sports, hangouts, and quiet study. Peer groups are helpful and friendly. Hostel life is decent with shared rooms, and students from diverse backgrounds create a vibrant community. The overall environment is safe, disciplined, and enjoyable.
