Executive Master of Business Administration (“EMBA Programme”) is a postgraduate joint degree programme offered for 18 months in part-time and residential mode. EMBA programme is offered by the Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM), IIT Bombay, India and Olin Business School, Washington University in Saint Louis, USA (“WUStL”) through the IITB-WUStL Research and Educational Academy (“IWREA”). The EMBA programme is divided into three semesters of six months each.

EMBA classes are conducted for four days per month, from Thursday morning to Sunday evening. Each module will have thirty-six contact hours, equivalent to five credits of IIT Bombay, so a total of a hundred credits for all twenty modules. EMBA course structure also includes considerable engagement of the faculty, which cannot be quantified and may vary from module to module. The final three modules are taught at the WUStL campus in St Louis, USA. The modules will be taught through a combination of lectures, seminars, projects, presentations, case discussions, simulation, role-playing and e-learning components.

EMBA is the result of IIT Bombay’s continued relationship in the field of research collaboration with WUStL and is an extension of that relationship to the field of executive management education.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the below eligibility criteria to apply for EMBA courses

Bachelor's degree from a recognised university in India or any other country.
Minimum seven years’ work experience including five years’ managerial experience or equivalent.

The following criteria are preferred for EMBA admissions in addition to the eligibility requirements listed above.

Employer recommendation and a commitment to assist the candidate during the EMBA Programme. This commitment is made regardless of the employer’s decision to financially sponsor the candidate.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Good computer skills.

Admission Details

The details of the EMBA admission process are given below.

Eligible candidates must register themselves with the admission portal with all the required documents. After submitting their online application, candidates will receive a unique registration number.
The EMBA Program Office will verify all the application forms and documents. If the documents submitted by any candidate are not sufficient, the candidate will receive an email from the EMBA Program Office for alternate documents to be submitted to satisfy the eligibility criteria.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview with the admission committee through e-mail.
The Admission Committee will include a panel of experts from IIT Bombay & WUStL. If WUStL’s faculty are not available then audio/online/skype interviews will be scheduled by the EMBA Program Office.
On the day of the interview, all the supporting documents will be verified before the interview.
The admissions committee will rate the performance of each candidate based on the relevant criteria and make its recommendation to either admit or reject a candidate.
This recommendation will then be forwarded by the Head, SJMSOM to the Dean (AP), IIT Bombay, and the Dean, Olin Business School for approval.
Once approved, the EMBA Programme Office will inform the selected candidates about admission.
Candidates selected for admission will be required to make a Booking Deposit specified in the letter of admission in favour of the ‘IITB-WUStL Research and Educational Academy’.
Candidates who have paid the Booking Deposit will receive a letter confirming admission.
