For getting admission in Anna University and other affiliated colleges , your 12th marks (more precisely your cutoff in PCM) is solely taken into account. You can apply for admission in AU through TNEA counselling. Your PCM cutoff should be high for getting most preferred batches like CSE,IT,ECE in Anna University’s main campuses( CEG ,MIT,ACT). However, there are a few reservations for specific castes offered by our Government, which provides space for some students to get into this institution with a slightly lower cut off.

Aadhar Card can be used as residency certificate unless specified otherwise. So yes, you can your Aadhar card as proof of residency. You can also try contacting the authorities in-charge or read an information bulletin(if any), incase you are still confused.

If you belong to general category then the chances are quite moderate nothing can be said surely  until the merit list comes out based on the rank you will get.

Anna university is a very esteemed university of the country hence the cut offs are quite high every year. So the chance are quite low still I would say wait till the merit lits comes.

You haven't mentioned your category assuming that you belong to general category you may not get seat in Mechanical Engineering in Anna University, Chennai. Last year the cut off for BC candidate for admission to Chemical Engineering in University Departments of Anna University, Chennai - ACT Campus was 190 marks. Considering the previous year cut off you have decent chances of getting seat in Chemical Engineering in the preferred institute. The last date to register for TNEA 2021 counseling was August 24. Admission in B.Tech courses in Tamil Nadu will be based on class 12 score upon which merit list will be declared. No separate entrance exam will be conducted for Tamil Nadu B.Tech admission. Anna University will release TNEA rank list on September 9 and once the rank list will be declared, you cannot do anything. And rank list will consist of candidates who have registered for tnea counseling.
