For Bio Medical Engineering this is the list of data i could gather regarding the cut-offs for the required stream in the TNEA exams in last 9 years( I have assumed you are not from the backward categories as you didn't mention any)

2016 - 196.75

2015 - 198

2014 - 198.25

2013 - 197.25

2012 - 196.75

2011 - 197.5

2010 - 196.5

2009 - 196.5

2008 - 196.5 

As you can see the cutoffs for the previous years has been around the 190s specifically 196,197 and 198. It has never touched the 180s. So most probably this time also, seeing the trend, the cutoff will stay in 190s and with 183 I think it would be difficult to get Bio Med

TNEA 2018 Initial Stages before Counselling:

After you have filled up your TNEA 2018 application form, a Random number will be generated by TNEA Authority. Following this, you will have to get your original documents verified at the facilitation centre that has been alloted for you in your district.

For this purpose, you need to take a set of your original documents and also a set of photocopies of those documents that will be specified to you through an e-mail and your registered mobile number.

TNEA Facilitation Centres(TFCs):

There are nearly 44 TFCs in Tamil Nadu to aid in the TNEA 2018 process. There are nearly 44 TFCs in Tamil Nadu, which includes Anna University, government and govt aided colleges affiliated to the university. Also, a few govt Polytechnics, Arts and Science colleges also can be a TFC.

How to select a TFC:

During the application for TNEA 2018, after the registration and payment stage; under Personal details page:

Kindly select YES under "Do you need TFC Facility for choice Entry"

And then select your Preferred Verification Centre in any place of your choice that is near to you.

2. Q = M + ((P+C) / 2), where M, P and C are percentage marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry respectively.

3. Selection is solely on Merit.
4. Mere submission of data sheet is not a guarantee for selection.

In addition, All B.E./B.Tech programs are affiliated to Anna University and SSN meticulously follows the admissions guidelines laid down by the University.

Out of the total seats 65% (590) are filled up through single window counselling. The seats offered by SSN are filled up within the first few days of counselling with significant high cut-off marks. The remaining 310 seats of the management quota are also offered through merit. 25 seats are earmarked for students who excel in both their academics and sports and 25 for toppers of government rural schools of Tamil Nadu. Apart from this as part of walk-in-walk-out scheme 25 seats are offered to toppers of various state boards with full scholarship.

Anna University usually have TNEA Exam for other states students.

Tamilnadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) is on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying exam (Class 12 or equivalent) conducted by Anna University for admissions to the undergraduate engineering programmes in the state.

Eligibility Criteria: Will be announced a short while after your exams are over(May or June at max), on the Anna University website. But a general guideline is both CBSE & State Board students must have scored over 50% in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. But these change every year, make sure you are updated(i.e Check Home - Anna University )

Admission Forms: Forms are issued sometime in May or June(It can change, stay updated You can obtain it online( Home - Anna University , also this maybe free) or get a physical copy(for 500 RS) in a few institutions namely

• College Of Engineering Guindy
• Madras Institute of Technology
• The Government Polytechnic College

Note: Last year(2016) admission forms were only Online. So make sure you are updated.

Submitting Application Forms: Depending on how you obtained the forms your means of submitting the form will defer, so act according to the instructions you receive. You will also be required to submit a draft of 5000 rupees with the same(Maybe free in some cases). At the end of the submission process a rank list will be generated, according to your rank(Calculated by Maths, physics & Chem marks; to which a 4th subject(Comp Science or Bio) mark is added). According to your rank you will be invited to the single window counseling.

Single Window Counseling: You will be sent a post telling you when to come for your counseling session. The session is held in College Of Engineering Guindy, and you will have to come here for your counseling, with another person(Parent, Guardian or Relative). You will be given a computer generated list of Colleges you are eligible from, take your pick. And voila you are done.
