Course Overview

The Fluid Mechanics course is an interdisciplinary programme which will cover the principles and applications of Fluid Mechanics in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering. Through this course, you will acquire new problem-solving techniques like streamline patterns and control volume concepts. The course will also demonstrate the visualisation of fluid-flow problems.

The curriculum in the Fluid Mechanics programme includes lessons on Properties of Fluids, Fluid Kinematics, Flow-through Pipes, Mass, Bernoulli & Energy Equations, and more. On course completion, you will have a robust foundation on Fluid Machines so that you can apply the essential laws and principles to engineering designs, as required.

Moreover, Prof. Subashisa Dutta, who has been teaching for more than 15 years in IIT Guwahati, will teach this course, while the NPTEL offers the online course in collaboration with IIT Guwahati. Any interested learners can join the Fluid Mechanics online programme; however, they must have prior knowledge of Fluid Mechanics fundamentals.
