    Appreciating Hindustani Music Classes introduces the candidates to the raga system like the Raga melodic scale, composed of notes from the basic seven- Sa, Re, Ga, Ma Pa, Dha and Ni. On the basis of these notes included in it, each raga attains a different character and forms of the raga is also determined by the particular pattern of ascent and descent of the notes.

    Exam score is 75% of the certification exam score out of 100

    Final score = Assignment score + Exam score (you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100).

    What you will learn

    After successful completion of the Appreciating Hindustani Music Certification Course the students obtain valuable knowledge and insights about Khayal type of classical music which consists of about 4-8 lines of lyrics set to a tune and use these lines as the base for improvisation. The Khayal form of Hindustani classical music was made popular by the 18th century rule of Mohammed Shah. 

    Some of the modern day vocalists who use Khayal are Bhimsen Joshi, Prabakar Karekar, Pandit Jasraj, Rashid Khan, Shruti Sadolikar and many others.
