Dear,

I suggest you to pursue Petroleum Engineering in JNTU Kakinada rather than Marine Engineering in Andhra University. Eventhough Andhra University is top University, the opportunities for this stream are not good enough. So petroleum Engineering in JNTU Kakinada is better. Some Core companies visit the campus as well as few IT few companies recruit Petroleum Engineering students.

As you mention your rank in appgecet but you didn't mention your category as your category also play important role to get admission but with your rank you may have very less chance to get the admission in JNTUK..

There are other good colleges where can you try ..

Has you mention your rank in GATE with these rank chances are less to get top colleges like AU ,JNTUK ,JNTUA other..

Fifth category also play important role if you are from St or SC category you may try there and may you get there till the last round but is still the chances are less..

Universities like Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University are the one to be filled first in the counselling of AP PGECET and due to this reason the rank to make it into the college is pretty high. According to your rank and OC category might be difficult.

As you mention your rank as a 71 in appgecet in EC paper and also your category as OC ....as your category is OC there will some difficulties  to get top colleges as your category also play important role.... but may you also get these colleges if you wait till last counselling...

But there are other top colleges which you can get easily with your rank ..

Hi,

Perteoleum Engineering is an excellent option to go for if interested in the field. JNTU Kakinada has a great infrastructure, experienced faculty and lots of other opportunities. The petroleum engineering department is the youngest and the curriculum is interesting. Placements are fine and may get better in coming years due to it's location in the KG Basin. IT companies do visit and you can sit for software jobs provided you should be good at coding and logics.

Since the cutoff in the second round for ECE is 9241 this year, you can have chances of getting this college if and only if students with better ranks than yours do not put it as their option in this round. There is a big difference between 9241 and your rank so the chances are not really that high.
