Hello Akhilan,
170 Seems to be a good score if you compare it to the score of paper-I..
but believe me it isn't.
i don't want to disappoint you but sadly its the truth.
I myself got got 202 in my paper-II and 81% in ISC board, my rank was 26011( general quota). I was happy about it but the happiness didn't last long.
I'm gonna explain you why.
first of all when you apply for JEE paper-II you dream big, u think of IIT's and NIT's. Thats were the problem comes into existence.
most of the IIT's and NIT's are institution for technical purposes as the last 'T' in them denotes.
so basically there isn't much for an architect there as there is for an engineer in those prosperous government institutes.
for getting admission as an architect in an IIT or NIT through JEE one would have to crack paper-I too and appear for JEE ADVANCE.
If you made through then congo else i'll help you out with some other options.
if u are mad about being a architect then u would have definitely heard about NATA(National aptitude test for architecture). It is to architect what JEE is to engineers. It give access to all the architectural colleges in India.
Yes, the IIT's and NIT's too if you cleared the JEE MAIN.
NATA paper is something that makes sense for admission as an architect.
Clearing JEE MAINS for architect is bogus and doesn't makes sense.
NATA paper consist of general aptitude and drawing skill. So basically you don't need to learn how 'oil of wintergreen' is made as in chemistry to be an architect. the paper is quite easy if you ask me but when the result comes out its not even close to what you think. What people think is that they can learn aptitude in few days but what they don't understand that the logical reasoning is developed throughout their lifetime. That's what you call IQ.
Time is the basic concern as the aptitude paper is held online and each question holds a limited amount of time, at max 60 seconds. So definitely carry a watch.
i would advice you too buy some solved question banks(watch out for picture questions), they'll help a lot in aptitude.
If you didn't made through your IIT MAIN paper-I. Don't feel sad. get your shit together and try NATA if being an architect really mean something to you.
For the drawing part u'll need to draw three different things.
what i got was something like
to draw a view of a zoo
to draw a sculpture using 6 vehicle tyres
to draw an alankaar and fill it with only 4 colours
one thing i need to make clear here, no one gives a shit how beautifully u can draw an elephant's trunk. they need to test your perspective and how capable you are on implementing dem on paper.
keep ur imagination alive.
If you didn't made through your IIT MAIN paper-I. Don't feel sad. get your shit together and try NATA if being an architect really mean something to you.

Well you just have to continue with furthur rounds of counselling if you believe that your seat can get upgraded. Don't worry until and unless you get a seat which you have filled at a higher priority, your present seat will remain yours as long as you follow all the procedures.
Both of the institutes are great in their own right. So before anyone call tell you what to decide, I will suggest you to go through the academic details of the programs offered which is present on the official websites so go through the courses offered and then as per your interests pursue the same.
Hi Tanmay,
NIT Trichy is considered to be one of the best and most reputed institutes of India and hence due to this fact the seats of computer science department are filled very fast. According to list published by the official counselling commitee JOSAA, the cut off rank for students from Tamil Nadu is 1250 to 4912. And for students who are not from Tamil Naduthe cut-off goes as high as 324 to 2124.
For more information on all the other NITs and IIITs you can check the official rank cut-offs put up by JOSAA in the below link
Thank you
I see that you want to pursue b arch from nit Trichy and build career in architecture engineering. But for that you need to be eligible.
You need to be less than the closing rank of previous year. It was around 300 for general .
So if you are under this you are most probably getting a seat in nit Trichy.
All the best.
Thank you.
See you are so much confused about which college should you join but you don't need to worry.
I would suggest that first you should make clear which way you wanna go . JEE or CUSAT.
For JEE you gave three options , nit Trichy, nit Surathkal and nit Warangal. These three are obviously better than the CUSAT college of you get a seat in it.
For me nit Trichy will be best then Warangal and then Surathkal.
All the best.
Thank you.
The infrastructure of college is quite good , big and well designed . The classroom is properly ventilated and has smart board for effective learning, The library has all the books of different categories and students can issue any of the books in respective time. There are many grounds for respective sports and properly maintained periodically.
It’s campus is so big that moving from one department to other requires a lot of time else you can use bicycles. The view of college is amazing. There is wifi facility along big big classrooms and labs. I don’t suggest you the mess food.
So the campus is having very beautiful greenery all around which makes the best nit of india look great. The hostels are although developed but their can be some improvements to make it advanced. I like the mess food.
