The cutoff for general companies at VIT is 7.0 however, if you are aiming for the top tech companies, you have to get a 8.5 minimum. Moreover, you must also not have any standing backlog at the times of placement.

VIT Vellore is anytime better than HBTU Kanpur. The NIRF ranking of VIT Vellore is 15 whereas NIRF ranking of HBTU Kanpur is 166.
The NAAC score of VIT Vellore is Grade: A and CGPA: 3.42/4.
VIT Vellore is a private college but better
Inter semester is really helpful for clearing backlogs as well as marks improvement.
In inter-semester you will have less syllabus so you can focus more on your core concepts as well as you can improve your marks. Since there will be lesser number of students than a regular semester ,

It is definitely good to take VIT Vellore because it has a good ranking of 28 which is even above from many NITs.But there is one thing to note that their is big fee difference and as it is private there is more strictness there to mantain there
