ATSVS Siddha Medical College and Hospital, Kanyakumari Admission Process

ATSVS Siddha Medical College and Hospital, Kanyakumari, was established as a recognized institution for study in Siddha medicine. The admission procedure at the college is through a merit-based admission system whereby students are mainly chosen on the basis of NEET UG marks and hence only the deserving candidates are admitted to the Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS) course. Normally, admissions would happen along with NEET UG, which is internal to the college every year.

Eligible students have to qualify themselves in the NEET UG examination, which is the main basis for admission into the college. The NEET UG is usually held first half of the year, with results out a couple of weeks later. Mainly successful completion of the 10+2 level of education is the requirement for admission to ATSVS Siddha Medical College and Hospital.  This limited intake also marks how competitive the admission process actually is and emphasizes the importance of scoring well in NEET UG.

Application Process

The application process at ATSVS Siddha Medical College and Hospital is very simple and consists of:

1. NEET UG Registration and Examination:

  • Register for the NEET UG examination through the official NEET website.
  • Appear for the NEET UG examination on the specified date.
  • Collect your NEET UG score card after the results are out.

2. Counseling Registration:

  • After the announcement of the NEET UG results, the eligible candidates should register themselves for the counseling process.
  • It is likely to be conducted by the state authority in charge of medical admissions in Tamil Nadu.

3. Document Submission:

  • Collect and arrange all the necessary documents, which usually include the following:
  • NEET UG score card
  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets
  • Transfer certificate
  • Community certificate where applicable
  • Domicile certificate wherever mandatory
  • Recent passport-size photographs

4. Counseling and Seat Allotment:

  • Attend counseling sessions according to the schedule announced by the authority.
  • Choose ATSVS Siddha Medical College and Hospital based on your NEET rank and seat availability.

5. Admission Confirmation:

  • Then report to ATSVS Siddha Medical College and Hospital on the prescribed date in case the seat allotted to him/her is confirmed.
  • They may be required to submit all original documents for verification.
  • Also, they will be required to pay a stipulated amount as admission fees to confirm their seat.

6. Orientation and Course Commencement: - Attend the orientation program organized by the college and begin the BSMS course as stated in the academic calendar.

Degree wise Admission Process

BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery): The BSMS program at ATSVS Siddha Medical College and Hospital is a five-and-a-half-year course, with one year mandatory rotatory internship for the student. Admission to this program is purely on the merit of the candidate in the NEET UG examinations, and this course is conducted with full attendance and for the purpose of any successful student of the 10+2 who qualified by NEET UG.

The admission process for BSMS proceeds in this order:

  1. Qualifying in the NEET UG examination and obtaining a ranking competitive score;
  2. Meeting the minimum eligibility required by the college and statutory organizations;
  3. Registering for the counseling wherein the allocation of seats is done according to the merit obtained in NEET UG against the number of vacant positions.

A remarkable thing about ATSVS Siddha Medical College and Hospital is that it only teaches Siddha medicine in its narrowest sense among other faculties of medicine. Thus it denies students the offer of a larger set of programs: the BSMS course remains pretty much the only course for admission.
