Dr JK Saikia Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Jorhat Admission Process

Dr. J.K. Saikia Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Jorhat, is a famous homeopathic medical college of Assam. The college has introduced its full-fledged BHMS programme that offers students exposure to theoretical knowledge and skills necessary to practice homeopathic medicine. The whole admission process is designed to be competitive to select the most suitable candidates for admission to the BHMS programme.

The admission process of the college has been regulated through a well-structured procedure, which has undergone changes over the years. Previously, even until the academic year 2016-17, rank holders from Assam in the Common Entrance Examination for Ayurveda & Homeopathy (CEEAH) conducted by the Director of AYUSH, Assam, used to select students for the course. Students from other North-Eastern states were admitted as nominees of their states. On the other hand, the ongoing admission process might have undergone some change since then.

Some of the basic eligibility criteria for admission to the degree of BHMS are:

  • Age Limit: The candidate must be between the ages of 17 and 24 years.

  • Educational Qualification: The candidate must have successfully completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

  • Minimum Marks: A minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination.

Application Process

Based on general practices and historical records, the following procedure might have been followed for taking in students at Dr. J.K. Saikia Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital:

  1. Notification: Various forms of media present this announcement with details concerning the admission procedure, or the college itself would communicate it through its official communication channel.

  2. Application Form: Interested candidates need to collect the application form and fill it in. The form may be downloadable from an online portal or may be available at the college admission office.

  3. Submission of Documents: Candidates must submit supporting documents along with the application form, including the following (which were generally required):

    • Mark sheets of the 10th and 12th standards

    • Proof of age (Birth certificate or 10th certificate)

    • Certificate for category (if applicable)

    • Entrance Examination score card (if applicable)

  4. Entrance Exam: Candidates may be required to sit and write an entrance exam. Earlier, it used to be the CEEAH for students from Assam, but verification has to be done to confirm if it still is.

  5. Merit List: They shall draw up a merit list based on the scores from the entrance exam or academic performance.

  6. Counseling and Seat Allotment: Selected candidates will be called to counseling where the seats are allotted based on merit and preferred programs.

  7. Fee Payment: Selected candidates pay the required fees for admission.

  8. Document Verification: Original documents shall be verified during admission.

Degree-wise Admission Process
