Government Medical College and ESIC Hospital Coimbatore (GMCESIC) is a new but developing institution that provides good quality medical education in Tamil Nadu. The college has a merit-based admission system that is compliant with national standards of medical education in India. GMCESIC is recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and offers two specialised medical courses: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) for undergraduate students and Master of Medicine (MD) in Emergency Medicine for postgraduate students.
GMCESIC admission is mainly on the basis of national-level entrance tests. For MBBS, admissions are made through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG). The candidates need to pass this test with the minimum marks required to qualify for admission. Likewise, for the MD in Emergency Medicine course, admissions are made on the basis of performance in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate (NEET-PG).
MBBS admission eligibility requirements are a successful passing of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as mandatory subjects. For MD courses, students should have already completed their MBBS degree from a recognised university. Cutoff marks for NEET-UG and NEET-PG could be different every year, and students are advised to score high to get admitted to GMCESIC.
The application process for GMCESIC depends on the programme:
The college is well known for providing skilful courses in the field of medical studies. The following courses are provided.

The duration of the course is 5.5 years with a one-year mandatory rotating internship. Candidates should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, and pass NEET-UG to be considered for admission.
GMCESIC has 5 seats available in the MD Emergency Medicine course. GMCESIC admissions are done through NEET-PG. The course lasts for 3 years. Candidates should have passed their MBBS degree from a recognised institute and pass NEET-PG to be qualified for admission.
