Government Medical College and Hospital, Karur Admission Process

Government Medical College and Hospital at Karur, which is popularly known as Sri Krishna Medical College, aims to impart quality medical education through the National Medical Commission (NMC). It also follows guidelines on medical education within India.

GMCH Karur also follows this pathway for admission into its programmes: the students must meet the national standards imposed for all medical colleges across India. Thus, every candidate aspiring for this space must have taken the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). An eligibility test seeks to probe knowledge possessed by students in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

The academic session of GMCH Karur starts in August-September, and the admission process usually kicks off several months prior to this time. Tracking the NEET exam for aspirants is important since it is usually held sometime in May or early June. The result is announced in July, after which the counseling and admission processes begin.

Application Proces

This is how the process for submission of application to GMCH Karur for registering in the MBBS course is divided into:

  1. Registration and Examination with NEET:

    • Either through the official website, register for the NEET examination.

    • Before the NEET exam date, appear for the exam on that day.

  2. NEET Result:

    • As soon as the result is declared—in July—nearly all check NEET results.

  3. Counseling Registration:

    • Candidates who qualify must register for state counseling (Tamil Nadu seats).

    • Central counseling for All India quota seats through the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC).

  4. Document Verification:

    • Upload and submit all required documents during online counseling registration.

    • Typically, the necessary documents include the

    • NEET scorecard,

    • 10th and 12th-grade mark sheets,

    • domicile certificate,

    • category certificates (if applicable) and

    • any other relevant certificates.

  5. choice filling
    • Candidates must indicate the names of the colleges and courses of their choice during the counseling.

  6. Seat Allotment:

    • Based on the NEET rank, category, and seat availability, the allotment will be done.

  7. Reporting to the College:

    • If allotted a seat at GMCH Karur, candidates must report to the college within the specified timeframe.

    • Complete the process of admission, including document verification and payment of fees.

  8. Medical Examination:

    • Medical examination as indicated by the college.

Degree wise Admission Process

MBBS: GMCH Karur is presently running just one course, i.e. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). This degree is full-time and extends for six years thereby giving a professional qualification in medicine. The authorized seat capacity for MBBS, according to the College, is 150; thus, it will eventually churn out many medical professionals in a year.

Admission into the MBBS course will be done purely and simply based on the NEET score of the candidate. Since the number of seats to be awarded is limited, admission to the MBBS program is quite competitive. Candidates assaying NEET with goodmarks may enter the method of counseling for seat allotment.

The eligibility criteria for MBBS admission include:

  • Completion of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology

  • Qualifying score in NEET

  • Minimum age of 17 years on December 31 of the admission year
