Government Medical College, Dindigul Admission Process

This is a blooming institution, the Government Medical College, Dindigul in Tamil Nadu. The college underwent its first admission. According to national standards set for medical education in India, the college is subjected to a very rigorous admission procedure.  To get admission in Government Medical College, Dindigul, candidates would have to qualify for the NEET-that is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-one of the national-level tests for prospective medical students. Admission would be given only after qualifying NEET with the prescribed cut-off marks. 

The admission process would be held in conjunction with the NEET exam cycle, which would be held once in a year at least. Eligibility criteria would be that aspirants have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as subjects.  The neet syllabus consists of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology) of class 12 and in-depth preparation on all these topics is required with exclusive NCERT-based preparation and suggested reference material for NEET.

Application Process

The application process of Government Medical College, Dindigul is the same as followed by other government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu:

1. NEET Examination: The applicant must sit for the NEET examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

2. NEET Score: Following the release of the NEET results, candidates who score higher than the cut-off become eligible for the counseling process.

3. State Counseling Registration: Eligible candidates are to register themselves at the state counseling procedure conducted by Tamil Nadu state medical education authority.

4. Document Verification: Candidates shall submit their documents for verification. These usually include the following:

  • NEET score card
  • Mark sheets for the 10th and 12th standard
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Community Certificate, if applicable
  • Domicile Certificate, for those from Tamil Nadu
  • Other specific certificates as required by the state authorities

5. Choice Filling: Candidates fill their preferences for colleges and courses during the counseling process.

6. Seat Allotment: Seats are allotted to students depending on NEET scores, reservation policies, and choices filled in.

7. Reporting to the College: The allotted candidates must then report to Government Medical College, Dindigul, within the stipulated time and present all original documents along with the required fees.

Degree-wise Admission Process

MBBS: The Government Medical College, Dindigul offers a MBBS degree program covering full-time course work of six academic years and one dissolving rotatory internship. The program currently has an offering of 150 known seats. Admission to the MBBS course is based strictly on the scores of the students in the NEET and post counseling.

Eligibility for MBBS:

  1. Must have completed this qualifying 10+2 or other equivalent examination including Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology as core subjects and English.
  2. The candidates must qualify in the NEET examination above the cut-off marks as determined by the eligibility authorities.
  3. Age requirement as determined by medical education regulatory bodies.
