Scottish Church College, Kolkata Fees 2027

Quality of teaching was not upto the mark. Though the medium of teaching was said to be English, it was not practiced and vernacular language wad used to explied topics in class which made the outstation students like me clueless about what was going on in class. Curriculum was somewhat updated. Study never made me job ready to be honest.

Infrastructure was not very great, it was average, hostels were quite dirty and female hostels lacked female staffs, Labatories were average and had basic equipments. Library access was not seemless and lacked books. Toilets were dirty .

Campus is too cramped with no space to even walk freely or sit. The colonial style building were quite nice. No activities. As an outstation student , I did not feel very welcomed. Teachers would suddenly switch to their vernacular language in the middle of the class, information would not be passed to the whole class. One such incident was when I went to the practical class and everyone was submitting their copies for correction. When I inquired about the material, I got to know that the professor had internally passed the material to one of the students withoutin forming any of us and they were supposed to send it in the group but had only send it to the local students. Therefore I could not sumit my work that day.

Zero placements. Placements never talked about . Placements were non existence. Zero placements, Zero placements, Zero placements, no placements, placements never talked about, Zero placements, no placements.

Since it was a semi-government college, the fee was not very high so it was my money's worth.

I studied chemistry. For me, the course was chosen due to my love for the subject. The curriculum in Scottish church is well updated and relevant. The teaching staff are well equipped with knowledge about their subjects. Studying an honours course doesn't make someone job ready but research ready.

The infrastructure of the college is outstanding. The lab equipment are up to date and the working spaces are well maintained. Classrooms are well lit and spacious. Projectors and smart boards are used to explain difficult topics with ease.

Campus life is quite fun. We have multiple facilities like gym, library, hostel and much more. There is a excellent senior junior culture in hostels and everyone feels welcome. Teachers, lab assistants and students are quite good. It is very safe.

Placement from our college is quite good. Most of the students studying chemistry go out and get into good research programmes and make a difference. I personally don't have the exact news of the placement details. So to avoid false information no further details shall be provided.

The course itself is quite affordable. It is hardly ₹ 20000 /- per year. The value for the money is immense. The teachers we get at Scottish are some of the most knowledgeable and accomplished faculty members.

The teachers are well educated but the method of teaching is old school. There should be updated approach to teaching the concepts and encouraging students. The curriculum of Calcutta University needs to be updated to include relevant matters.

The campus area is small and not integrated well. However, the labs are well equipped. The main library is difficult to access inspite of it being well equipped because of management issues. The hostel is good for accommodation but food is bad.

There is not much campus life. Student unions not permitted. The teachers of my department were not very encouraging. They were all well educated and had the degrees but not the heart to become a teacher.

No placement for students. The placement cell exists but does not actively get the students involved into placements. It is only active for commerce students as far as I know. The others are not aware of such facilities.

It was a fairly affordable college with each semester fees going upto 8000 rupees for lab related courses.
