According, to Careers 360 VIT Vellore has AAAA+ rating which means outstanding and VJTI Mumbai has AAAA ratings which means very good. Both the colleges are good. If we compare both the colleges in terms of placements, exposure, faculty and Infrastructure then VIT Vellore is better college.
You can also check the placement record of both the college from the given below link
Good Luck!!
As the cut off varies year to year and if you talk about VJTI and COEP then these are the top colleges of Maharashtra so the cut off goes little high so it would be better to get marks more than 160 as this would be the safest score to reserve seat there. So plan and prepare accordingly to get admission in your desired college and give your 200% as the target is not that easy.
For reference, you can go through the below provided cut off -
Hope this helps!!!

VJTI is the top college of Maharashtra so the cut off goes high too and if you talk about NITs then kindly share which particular NIT you are asking for as they all have different rating and ranking. So please share the name so that I can provide you a comparison between both. Also, to know all about VJTI you can go through the below provided points -
Campus:- The campus is not very big but a peaceful place with 17 acres of area with one cricket ground, open study space and one football court.
Crowd:- I would say you will find all CET toppers there from Mumbai,J&K and North East as well.
Faculty:- As per the students review, it has got good amount of teachers but not all would be the perfect ones so students cannot completely rely on them.
Hostel Life:- There are 5 buildings (4 for boys and 2 for girls), not very spacious. You will get TV, Tennis Room and study space as well. You can leave hostels anytime but will have to reach back before 11.30pm.
Placement:- It is actually the reason for which VJTI has its brand name. VJTI placements are par excellent. An average package goes by around 5-6L and highest package is grabbed by Comp, IT, Electronics students. You can check the placement report for 2016-2017 below -
VJTI Placement stats 2016-17
Note : As you have not mentioned which particular NIT you are asking for so comparison is difficult but yes, if you a chance to get seat in top NITs like NIT Warangal, Surathkal, Calicut etc then I would suggest you to go for these only.
Hope this helps!!!
Choosing a branch totally depends on your interest. If we comapre the branches then Infrastructure branch has better scope in the future

The facilities and infrastructure available for the course/department, such as Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, and the library, are very Good . The quality of the facilities in the hostel, the quality of the food available in the mess and canteen, the medical facilities, and the sports and games are all very Good .
The classrooms are decent enough, with wooden benches, projector and AC's. Wi-Fi works in some classes and doesn't in others. The library is too good. It has all the books that you will ever need. It even has good Wi-Fi. You can be in the library for a whole day without feeling bored. The mess has okayish food—not that great. The canteen has better food than the mess. There's a cricket ground, a football ground and a basketball court as well, which is really good.
College has a very good infrastructure, however, the infrastructure is now old and there are efforts being put to renovate the college. Labs are a bit outdated, but the college is bringing in new facilities. The hostels are also undergoing changes and the new PG hostel has super good facilities.
