Mass Communication investigates the role mass media is playing in transferring information to large masses of population. Mass media includes print media like daily newspapers, leaflets, magazines and books along with digital media like television, radio and Internet. Mass communication studies the enormous effect of media on the individuals across masses and the effect it has on their social life. Journalism, in this sense, refers to the study of the product and production of news. The study of journalism involves looking at how news is produced, and how it is disseminated to the public through mass media outlets such as newspapers, news channel, radio station, television station, and more recently, e-readers and smart phones. Journalism students typically share a passion for writing, an earnest desire to tell honest stories and a fascination with public affairs. More than half of all journalism students choose a second field of study to complement their journalism degree As Indians begin getting their news from a variety of non-traditional sources, in addition to the newspapers, television and radio broadcasts and magazines that have been at the heart of the major for so many years, journalism programs across the country are adapting to provide students with the tools they will need to become successful writers no matter what the medium.
