Project Management is the implementation of relevant skills, knowledge and tools to achieve the goal set for a project. Project management is divided into 5 main phases, namely- Initiating, Planning, Executing, Performance monitoring and Closing of the project. With an increase in the number of industries, multinational and national projects, project management is gaining increasing importance and demand.
Courses in project management help aspirants inculcate a strong leadership quality, set goals and targets, and take step-by-step action to achieve those goals. These courses are renowned worldwide, and job opportunities do not limit themselves to just one sector or field.
There are different courses that one can opt to pursue project management. They range from Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), to Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Programme and Project Management (BSc). After one obtains basic Bachelor’s degrees such as the BMS, one can further opt for Master’s in Management.
At PG levels, courses vary and include Master of Business Administration in Project Management (MBA), Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and Master of Management Studies (MMS).
At Ph.D. levels, one can do a doctoral degree in just about anything. There are options of Ph.D. in Management, Business Administration- Project Management, Business and Management, Construction and Project Management, to name a few.
For UG levels, in case of BBA and BMS admissions, colleges set certain eligibility criteria, and only upon meeting them can aspirants apply to the course. Eligibility criteria set can be different for different colleges.
Applicants must have completed 10+2 years of education from a recognized board.
The minimum percentage score for 12th grade should be 50-60%.
Should be aged between 17-25.
For PG levels, eligibility criteria are usually as follows:

Entrance Exams for Project Management
At UG levels, certain specific colleges conduct their university level entrance exams for courses such as those of Project Management. Some of these entrance exams are as follows:
DU JAT– The Delhi University Joint Admission Test is the national-level entrance for admissions to BMS and other courses related to Management Studies, in colleges under DU
AIMA UGAT– This is conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) as a screening process for BMS, BBA and a few other courses.
MUCMET– This is the Mumbai University Common Management Entrance Test. It is used as an entrance exam to screen students for the BMS+MBA course.
SET General– This is conducted by Symbiosis University for a variety of students, including those looking to get into the courses of Management studies at SCMS, i.e. Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies.
At PG levels, for the two-year MBA course in project management, the following entrance exams are conducted:
CAT – The Common Admission Test is a test conducted by the IIMs as a prerequisite for admissions to MBA.
MAT – This test is a general Management Aptitude Test. It is a screening process for MBA aspirants.
XAT– The Xavier’s Aptitude Test is conducted by the Xavier’s School of Management in Jamshedpur.
ATMA– AIMS Test for Management Admissions. This is conducted as a screening process for admissions to MBA, MMS and PGDM.
