as I know, this university take admission M.tech through TANCET/GATE. as i checked-

Eligibility: Candidates must have a valid GATE Score with qualifying score for assistantship in appropriate discipline of Engineering/ Technology. They must have a recent TANCET score, that is conducted by Anna University.

Yes there is a priority difference. GATE candidates are exempted from answering TANCET. 

They are prefered first, seats priority will be given to them first.

For all NOT GATE qualified students, entry into ME is based on TANCET exam conducted by Anna University.
