Yes there is a priority difference. GATE candidates are exempted from answering TANCET. 

They are prefered first, seats priority will be given to them first.

For all NOT GATE qualified students, entry into ME is based on TANCET exam conducted by Anna University.

Well I can assist u in this. See there are two ways to get admissioned in the ANNA University to pursue higher studies like through TANCET or through any entrance exams.

So if u have GATE exam and are qualifying for taking admission in the ANNA University then there is no need to give any extra exam for taking admission as TANCET is for the state quota.

Hello Geetha. There's been no official information about the counseling starting earlier. 

Till any official notice is released, you should look into the previous dates of counseling only to be the approx. We'll update you if any official notice regarding this is released.

Yes you can the avail the scholarship provided by AICTE provided you are GATE qualified. All the GATE qualified students get monthly stipend of 12400/- for the period of 2 years. You can join the college through TANCET but it is compulsory that you need to be GATE qualified.

Last year the cutoffs required in TANCET to get the M.E(MECHANICAL) seat in ANNA UNIVERSITY (CEG) for B.C category was 36.00 .Slight variations can be noticed this year.

You can apply but there is a separate admission procedure for students from states other than Chennai. You can find an opening in the newspaper or check Anna University website www.annauniv.edu, you can find admission notices in March/April for the year. 

In the official website the admission form available, you can apply through it. Or you have to visit anna university and buy admission form (For non-Tamilnadu State Student) and fill it. There is no particular exam you get admitted based on cut-off.

A merit list will be prepared and you will be called out for counseling. You can choose any specialization and any college available during their counseling session as per your wish.
