Good global exposure

Posted on 19 Aug' 19 by Ridhima
Batch of 2010 | BE Computer Science and Engineering
The academic experience and the overall student experience have really benefitted my personal and professional development on a whole. Special mention for the fact that the University gives opportunities to extend skills outside the classroom, which has enabled me to gain additional experience in my field and connect with other experts. The university provides fantastic facilities, all within the campus. I’ve been able to complete a part of my studies abroad, in cooperation with a partner university in Germany, and I’ve been able to gain work experience with a leading brand at their HQ in Germany.

The campus has excellent labs to conduct experiments with a good number of students, classrooms few are air-conditioned. The staff is excellent, takes up pain to explain the stuff in the best possible way. College never leaves any stone unturned for student's placement but still not all my batch-mates got placed.

See the infrastructure is pretty good for the fee. But it lacks a few things. The condition of the library isn't all that great. It gets especially hot and humid there in summers which means it's harder to sit in it for longer durations. And there aren't many other places to sit except outside where there's a lot of dust. One can sit in the cafeteria and the food court but they don't allow you to use your laptops or study there because of the rush. Not that you can since there's too much noise anyway. Talking about faculty now. Since more faculty is young, some of them do not have enough exposure themselves so as to guide the students in the best possible direction, although they do try and it is admirable. There's a lot of show off in this college. They organise workshops, sure but hardly any of them actually provide you enough knowledge to go out there in the real world and accomplish something. Because of which, if you're really serious, then you don't really feel like going to those workshops as they're a waste of time. Also, 75% attendance is compulsory. And unless you take part in organising a lot of things, it's hard to make up for it especially if you want to devote yourself completely and immersively to your core stream. And there are way too many restrictions like you can't go outside the college without a gate pass. It just doesn't feel like a proper college should. In my opinion, it should have a better library and a place to sit and study outside of the library without much noise and distractions. For better industry exposure, there should be more of the workshops of value i.e. less show-off and more knowledge. However, not all is bad. In terms of affordability, they provide you with a lot of stuff. Transportation is cheap. Semester fee is cheap as compared to many other private institutes. And the faculty does do their best to provide the students with knowledge.

Only take this college if you are very serious about studying and making a career in engineering. It is because the college has a great placement record but only for those who have really worked on some good projects. Others are placed but you can get that type of placement at any college with half the fees. Make an investment this big only if you will be serious. If you think engineering is not your cup of tea and do it just for graduation, simply don't take it. The college provides many good resources but you need to grab it yourself.

Bad placements, rowdy crowds, mediocre class environment. The admin is just interested in maximizing profits without paying any attention towards student development. The students are left mostly on their own without any help. Would not recomend this college to anyone.

Students receive a quality education that prepares them to advance the frontiers of technology. One of the best in the region, imagine a university calling companies for students who had less than 5CGPA, you can have an idea of the effort that they put in so that all their students are placed in good companies.

The faculty members are mostly from IITs

Posted on 21 Feb' 17 by Abhi Jindal
Batch of 2020 | BE Computer Science and Engineering
The faculty members are mostly from IITs who have at least done M.Tech in the relevant subjects. They are young and less experienced, though some of them are the best since they just passed out and know how to make the student understand the concept in the best way possible. PPTs are used in the classrooms for teaching. There are 3500 faculty members and nearly 30000 students. So, nearly 1:10 is the student-teacher ratio. We also got industry exposure, but whether the course curriculum was useful or not, can only be said when I get to face the placement drives here.

Every other facility is excellent here. It has a hospital which has free ambulance service, and is operable for 24hrs. The labs and classrooms are decent, just like every other college you can think of. The food available in canteen is good, though for a mess it is just average(don't expect this to be equal to your home food). Every type of room is available here, though most of the rooms are 4- seater rooms. 3-seater,2-seater,

If you have any special talent or some new ideas, then you got a better package. Here, packages started from 3 lakh per annum to 22 lakh per annum. According to your CGPA, you got job chances. A minimum 6.5 CGPA is needed in every semester. The campus is totally covered with a high-speed Wi-Fi network. The campus has its own mall and hospital inside the campus. Here, you can join any sports that you want. The faculty has a good experience. All teachers are good in behaviour and communication. All of them are trying their best to better the life of students. Teachers used good ways to teach students. They did tutorials as well as practicals with students to make them understand everything.

Chitkara University lies near village Jhansla. There is no development in the nearby the University. Infrastructure of the university is not so good but also not bad. talking about faculty.. some senior lecturers are good but 60% of them are inexperienced and teaching quality is not so good. It provides hostel facility and students living in hostel are not satisfied by it. Avg. placement is about 3 lacs p.a. Seminars keep on happening here..overall university is developing and has good reputation in punjab.

Chitkara University - review

Batch of 2020 | BE Computer Science and Engineering
It takes a lot of things to build and train a person for all walks of life ahead. 7 months into college and I feel I have landed at the right place. The university, doing complete justice to its tag line (EXPLORE YOUR POTENTIAL) gives us immense freedom and resources to go after what we are good at, and not just academics. We are given all possible chances to participate in extra curricular activities, be it related to sports, culture, social service, and what not! The university, from the very beginning trains us to face the society by conducting workshops, projects, seminars and various other programs that give us a hand on experience, which is a thousand times better than cramming things from books. The different clubs in the university take care that no one with their hidden talent gets left behind. It is one of those colleges with the best of infrastructure, with a lush and green campus to spend the day at. The university has highly experienced faculty for all the departments. As compared to other colleges, we have been provided with the finest food court one could ask for. The placement cell does a great job, guiding the students to their respective fields. To conclude, i would say that it is the ideal place for the overall development of an individual.

Life-or rather the lack of it-at Chitkara University

Batch of 2016 | BE Electronics and Communication Engineering
Some salient features of this college - or should I say 21st century concentration camp: College prospectus says its near Chandigarh, but actually its 30km from Chandigarh on a highway in middle of no where. The campus is always under construction, so dust is causing breathing problem to everyone. Also 4 people have died this year on campus because of falling of construction material on their heads. They say 100% placement guarantee whereas the truth is they pay companies to take students for 6 months after which 60–70% students are thrown out after training, and for many the joining letter never comes. College doesn’t have adequate infrastructure, has 750 people in each batch of B.E(CSE). when inspectors come for inspection, classes are labeled as labs to show ‘adequate infrastructure’ and they’re told that we have only 120 students per batch. Interaction between boys and girls is highly criticized outside classroom. The few couples who existed in college faced a lot of harassment from management, sometimes got suspended or parents were called. 75% attendance is compulsory, otherwise u will be detained. (even if you have 74.99% you’ll be detained) Use of mobile phones is prohibited within college building, if caught using phone fine of Rs 500 is imposed. Compulsory to wear uniform, it is checked before entering the college, if not in proper uniform fine of Rs500 will be imposed and you’ll not be allowed to attend class. There is a fine for everything, Ranging from Rs500-Rs22,000/- If you travel by college bus and do not have bus pass a fine of Rs5000/- is imposed first time and 2nd time its Rs22,000/- and you still cant travel by bus after paying it. If you bunk a lecture and teacher comes to know about it a fine of Rs500/- is imposed and a fine of Rs1,000/- per student in case of mass bunk You can not submit medical Leave if it is for less than 10 days and the illness is very severe(eg- fracture, chickenpox, cancer etc). I had asthma attack and was in hospital for 3 days my medical was still rejected. If you want to leave college before 4:30PM, you have to write a letter, apply for gate pass on college website, then get the letter approved from college discipline department and then HOD who calls your parents and has a nice talk with them before signing the gate pass which then has to be showed on gate or you cant leave. Every month performance letter (containing attendance, marks and teachers remarks) is sent to your home and SMS with marks and details are sent time to time. PTM is held every year for some streams. It is compulsory to get your laptop or you wont be allowed to attend lectures, whereas PC’s in college are just show pieces or for examination. Nothing is done on those laptops in the lectures. And they dont even provide you with charging points. You are not allowed to do what you like, it is compulsory to get 6.5+ CGPA and get placement, you do not have an option. It is compulsory to take placement (no wonder we don’t have any artists or entrepreneurs). There is no free lecture, only lunch break every day which is also taken by teachers. College is supposed to have high speed WiFi, there is no WiFi, the only block having WiFi(1MBPS connection for 750 students, i.e- 1.5kbps per student) has limited access, you cant access any site(quora, youtube, whatsapp etc) only a few sites like stack overflow, w3schools are allowed. Every year it is compulsory to attend chancellors day (a day where we praise the chancellor for his blessings), if you don’t attend it, you won’t be allowed to sit in the examination. The one time we skipped chnlr's day we were made to get a print of a ppt of 100+ pages on the topic motivation, get it spiral bound and submit it to the HOD. College cafeteria is less than 500sq ft. Has capacity of approx 200 people, With kitchen built inside making it a volcano. You have to submit practical files every week or they wont be checked later. College prospectus says it has an indoor sports stadium, which is basically a small tin enclosure that has a basket ball court and a few facilities with NO ventilation making it hotter than pressure cooker. Co-curricular activities are highly discouraged. No college trip, they make sure to call your parents individually and scare them enough to not send their children on trips. (eg- students do drugs and many children meet accident and get involved in illegal activities, make sure they don’t go on a trip with friends. That’s what a teacher said to my dad) You can get suspended for making troll/meme on college. No wonder I’m writing this anonymously so as not to get suspended/ rusticated. ( Two guys once made a troll page of college and got rusticated for it.) If that doesn’t make it one of the top contenders for worst college what does. I’m not sure how Chitkara has an okay-ish reputation outside but its hell, ask anyone from the university and you’ll know. Even the teachers aren’t happy. :)

Chitkara university is located outside any major city in agriculture area so no major developments outside campus itself also it is located in punjab. The infrastructure of the campus is quite good along with good canteen known as square one. Faculty majorly is good but some teachers are not much supportive and cooperation is inadequate. Classes are large and lightning is poor in some rooms. Hostel people complain regularly about poor quality of food and improper water timings.

Overall nice

It is budding, relatively less experienced faculty. Do have various programs like summer exchange, AIESEC. They even have good contacts for internships. When I was a student we had to go through a 6 months industrial training in the last year, so they did have good contacts. Students got a chance to work with a some good companies like NXP, Motorola,Texas Instruments…. I mean they went to extreme extents in order to get almost every student into some company for internship… Overall it’s a pretty average university, u’ll have to do a lot on your own if your interested in research n stuff.

CHITKARA UNIVERSITY is one of the best universities of North India. Being an alumini of it.,my experience is., In academics..the curriculum, faculty, facilities, labs, blocks everything is top at Chitkara. In co curricular activities..many activities are held throughout the year to keep students engaged,be it tech fests, cultural fests and many other staffs. There’s a huge wealth of experience to tap into, not only in academics, but in almost everything one loves to do. There are a plethora of opportunities to pursue and to hone one’s skills. One gets to know and inspire from the best minds of the country. I myself have learnt a lot in the time I spent here. Talking about the technical side of my experience, I have made a RC plane and a line follower robot of my own. Now I’m working on a quad copter. And here, they teach everything from scratch. I have had amazing political experiences too. The hostel election was a completely new experience.

Proper hostel facilities are provided to the students. Good infrastructure. Studies and placements are really good. Opportunities are given to every student. Quality of food in hostel is not good and too much restrictions are imposed on students. In the end Chitkara University won't disappoint you on placements if you can deal with the negatives.

Initially i find it difficult to adjust with college environment and socio-cultural people but after some time i find it pretty peaceful in sharing space with people from all over india. I got to learn new languages, new cultures, new food choices and much more... I will never forgot the days i spent in ny college. One thing i always hate about my college is strictness on outside eatables... Here we get lots of food choices in healthy eatables.... Placements too are very good. College discipline is no doubt the best and cultural fest are also great but no freedom for students experience the college life. As much as education and exposure is important , a little lenient environment never hurt anyone. Chitkara University One Of the best university in case of academics...In Chitkara several Talents are explored....If we have any vision or any inovative idea chitkara is the best platform to persue it..It has best infrastructure but as of canteen or eating place it doesnt have place for students to sit and eat food....It has gud campus placements... although in chitkara most of the students gets placed... Although chitkara university feels like coming to jail everydaay for about 7-8 hours a day and follow rules.. i think chitkara hostel life is gud... I sometimes personally think chitkara has the most no of student crowd in campus.. chitkara university has also best faculty memebers tht can teach u beyond subject...and can give real life scenarios of that particular subject...Lots of politics have been played in chitkara in co curricular activites like fests.. but basially a gud campus indeeed....
