Nice infrastructure, building are well developed or in a good condition.. Campus is well equipped with water coolers and cycle facilities. All branches has there separate buildings except some technology branches. Infrastructure can become better.
All teachers are well qualified and skilled, They can clear any doubts related to the subject. Teachers are qualified with masters degree from top iits, nits. All teachers are good with behaviour and nature wise.
Placements are around 85-90 %. All the branches have a good placement of average of nearly 8-9 lakh. Especially for electrical engineering, there is gradual increase in the placement. At the last if you study properly, yau can definitely got placed.
Yes, according to the fees , I think everything we got is fine.. Like all the hostel, classroom facilities are fine. Campus life is also good , canteens are well equipped with the fans and air conditioners.
It gives a good campus life ... A lot of events and programs held timely, You can participate in them and win certificates... Technika is the india level technical event that held in HBTU every year....
the infrastructure seriously lags behind modern standards. Many buildings appear outdated and poorly maintained. Classrooms often lack proper ventilation, and some even lack functioning fans or projectors. The hostel facilities are below average, with issues like old furniture, unhygienic bathrooms, and irregular water supply. Wi-Fi is unreliable, and basic amenities like clean drinking water and proper sanitation in many blocks need urgent improvement. The campus has potential but clearly needs significant renovation and modernization to match the level expected from a reputed government engineering institute.
The institute follows an absolute marking scheme, which means your grades are based solely on raw scores, regardless of how tough the exam was or how others performed. This is very different from IITs and other top institutes that use relative grading to fairly assess students. What makes things worse is the attitude of many professors. A lot of them seem frustrated or disinterested, and this reflects in their teaching and evaluation. Even after putting in genuine effort, it’s extremely difficult to score well because marks are deducted harshly, and there’s barely any scope for partial credit. It's not uncommon to see students demoralized not because they didn’t study, but because the system is unsupportive and rigid.
Computer Science & IT: These branches have seen robust placement outcomes, with average packages around INR 11–12 LPA and the highest offers reaching up to INR 35 LPA. Core Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical): Placement rates are strong, with average packages ranging between INR 6–8 LPA. Notably, Chemical Engineering has achieved near 100% placement in some years. Specialized Branches (Paint, Food Technology): These departments have maintained consistent placement records, with Paint Technology reportedly achieving 100% placement in certain years.
HBTU Kanpur is one of the oldest and most respected engineering institutions in Uttar Pradesh, and for good reason. If you're someone who values academic rigor, strong technical foundations, and a legacy of excellence, this college delivers.
The campus is peaceful and academically focused. While infrastructure could use some upgrades, the environment supports learning and personal growth. Clubs, tech fests, and student societies give plenty of chances to build leadership and soft skills.
East campus is quiet well designed and maintained with its hostels, lecture halls, canteen, offices but west campus need to improve like hostel there feel too old and need some repair and need canteen
As per my opinion academic of our college are quiet traditional but also effective which can be improved more by adding smart board, proper sitting arrangement for enhanced learning of students as per their course
Well the placement was fine untill last few year but as we talk of present time placements of electrical branch of Harcourt Buttler technical university are excellent which includes both on campus as well as off campus
Since our college is a state government college so the fee should accordingly to other state government college but it is slightly higher which is also understood because two campus require high maintenance cost
Well it's was a great experience here we could enjoy spending time in library which acquire large amount of book source as per your academic needs and college canteen where we could enjoy some delicious food
The college has decent infrastructure with essential facilities like auditoriums, labs, classrooms and Wi-Fi. While functional, some areas need maintainance and modernization to match evolving academic needs.
The college offers excellent academics with experienced faculty, a well-structured curriculum, and strong emphasis on practical learning, research, and innovation, fostering all-round student growth.
The college has good placement opportunities with reputed companies visiting regularly. Most students secure roles in core and IT sectors, though there's room for growth in package range and diversity.
The college offers good value for money with quality education, decent infrastructure, and strong placement support at reasonable fee. A few enhancements could further elevate the overall experience.
Campus Life is vibrant with various clubs, cultural events, and fests that encourage student engagement. While enjoyable and socially enriching, there's still scope to enhance facilities and participation.
Infrastructure of college is poor. it need renovation there some buliding which is very old . But college made some new department such as chemical and electronic department but college need to improve there infrastructure
Academic of college is brilliant . Teacher are strict and Well educated it have 75% criteria college held two sessional 15 marks each exam called as mid sem and one end semester exam of 50 marks and 20 marks on professor hand
There are many companies come to college for placement but they offer 7 to 8 lakh on average.there is 100 % placement in technology branches . Core branches placement get little bit low as compare to technology . The HBTU kanpur college known for chemical branch placement is very good
Btech course for 1st year is 1lakh 35 thousand and 2nd year is 1lakh 27 thousand. Ya the college is worth for money you may get disappointed about infrastructure but overall is good
Campus Life is overall good . There have lots senior who helps you lot but they need a respect from us
None
The college has a bit old infrastructure. The buildings and some departments require the renovation work, however, recently some new department buildings are also inaugurated but still more new infrastructure is must. It has a separate lecture hall complex which is made a few years ago. The campus also has a fully air-conditioned central laibrary. It also has three auditoriums.
The curriculum is perfect for the respective courses and branches, but the faculty is little bit strict, which is a good thing. Faculty is strict but beside this, they are very supportive. There are many labs in which the students can practically apply what they study.
The college has a good placement record. There is an excellent placement in technology branches( like chemical, paint, leather, food, oil, etc.).The placement in core branches( like mechanical, electrical, civil, etc.) is good, but if you are looking to persue B.Tech in Computer Science and IT from here, then you can't expect a good on campus placement.
Currently, I am persuing B.Tech from here and it cost me ₹1,35,000 tution fee for first year and ₹1,27,000 for second, third and fourth year. If anyone needs hostel then hostel fee is ₹23,250 per year and mess fee is ₹36,000. There are also additional DSW charges of ₹3,750. I feel these charges are worthed as they providing a quality education and nice mess and hostel facility, so according to me charges are worthed.
Campus life is good, as there we have a lush green campus which become fantastic in rainy season. It has 4 canteens in which the students can relax. Yeah, the routine during working days are a little bit busy but the holidays are awesome.
I want to add that the university campus has everything that must be in a technical university but it doesn't have any sports complex.
The buildings are constructed in a subpar manner, with an age that rivals that of the college itself, which is over a century old. It is possible that some of these buildings are truly that ancient. The condition of the hostels is also unsatisfactory, as they are old and in a state of disrepair. However, the first year boys hostel is passable, while the others are not up to par. Unfortunately, I cannot provide any insight on the girls hostel due to my limited knowledge. It is worth noting that the girls hostel is situated within a distinct boundary.
The curriculum is focused on academics and is outdated. It has only recently incorporated subjects like ML and AI, but the quality of these additions remains uncertain due to their recent introduction. Therefore, the curriculum may not be at the forefront of the latest fields, but rather emphasizes traditional studies.
Half of the students in the Computer Science and Information Technology departments secured attractive packages averaging 15+ LPA. The remaining students also received placements, albeit not as lucrative. The top-tier packages were predominantly offered off campus to high-performing students. The placements in the Chemical Engineering department were satisfactory, while the departments of Paint and Electronics had moderate success. Other departments did not fare as well.
Good to go college
The infrastructure is good but there is a need for improvement in infrastructure for better. Add additional space for sports and cultural activities. The library is good, but the Wi-Fi quality is not up to the mark. The college campus is far away, making it challenging for students to commute daily.
Well-qualified, helpful, knowledgeable, and experienced faculty. However, they expect students to work hard to enhance their skills. Scoring good marks in semester exams is challenging, so be prepared for both exams and projects.
80% of students are placed. The highest package is 20LPA, and the lowest is 5 LPA. Top recruiters include TCS, ICICI, HDFC, and Reliance. The college provides internship programs to facilitate in various fields such as finance, marketing, data science, agriculture business operations,, and hospitality and tourism
Yes value for the money ????
Master of Business Administration has a wide scope for learning skills to grow your care
The newly constructed classrooms for the 1st year are fully air-conditioned, and most other classrooms are spacious and air-conditioned as well. Both campuses are fully Wi-Fi enabled, and 24/7 medical facilities, along with medical insurance for students, are available.
The faculty members are highly qualified and helpful, though some professors are strict in their marking. Exams are a bit challenging, along with rigorous marking, but consistent studying can result in a good CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average). The course curriculum is relevant.
Placements have been consistently good, with almost 85 90% of students securing placements until last year, with an average salary of about 8 LPA. However, this year's complete data has not yet been released. Some students opt for covemment exams and pursue further studies, choosing to avoid placements.
Yes value for money
Campus Life is amazing HBTU Kanpur there are many facilities for students. There are many facilities like sports stadium for many indoor and outdoor games, Gym, Swimming pool, library, good road within the campus. 2. Students, teachers and support staff have good relations, support staff and teachers are student friendly.
Various festivals and events are organized throughout the year, such as TECHNIKA (technical), ADHYAAY (Cultural), AAGAZ (sports), and SAMVAAD (literary).
Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU) in Kanpur has not much good infrastructure. While the Central Library is known for its extensive collection, the update period of the courses may vary. Although, any competitive exam books you will not see there. Also, there is a room for keeping bags before entering into library, there is not any camera. Many student's bags and items has been stolen. But college does not care for it. The sports field is strong and sport is very special at the school. On the other hand, some student reviews say the food at the restaurant is below average;that's true. Overall, HBTU appears to provide a functional system that is important for academics and sports, but some areas, such as classrooms and the dining room, may need improvement.
Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU) in Kanpur is known for its strong academic programs, especially in engineering and technology. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various disciplines and may include B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD programmes. The workshops are of british rule and does not seems to be very beneficial in new and advance machines.Teachers complete syllabus for only university exam not for any competitive exam and also sometimes they does not complete syllabus on time.
The placements in hbtu can be seen In terms that highest package of iit is same as average package of nit or iit. Although students are happy by getting a package of 6 or 7 lakh.Students get a job in the name of hbtu and seems a good placement percentages.
Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU) offers valuable advice to students seeking a qualified engineering or technology degree. Being a government college, its fees is vey high(135000). This does'nt represents significant cost savings, making HBTU a good financial option. Despite having good teachers and focusing on hands-on learning, some students reviewed areas that needed improvement, such as classrooms and dormitories. Additionally, public schools generally offer fewer scholarships than private schools. Graduates have good average salaries and can provide a good return on investment. Overall, HBTU is strong competition for students who prioritize affordable and quality education, especially in the fields of engineering and technology.
Campus life is overall good.Hostels are clean with a ridiculous food.A studious student can not study in hostel with peace. There are cultural programs organised in an average manner. There are west and east campus of hbtu each having a small auditorium.
Dear
According to the information with a JEE Mains rank of 98,300 in the general category, getting admission to NITs, IIITs, or HBTI might be challenging as these institutes have higher cutoffs. However, you still have some options:
Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) : You have a good chance of getting admission to various branches here.
Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTI) : This university also offers several engineering branches, and your rank might be competitive for admission.
Thapar University : While it's a reputed institution, your rank might be on the lower side for top branches. However, you can still try for less competitive branches.
It's always a good idea to check the latest cutoff trends and contact the admission offices of these universities for the most accurate information.

Hi
hope you doing well
You have a good chance of getting CSE with 93.34 percentile in JEE Mains 2024 and OBC-NCL category from Uttar Pradesh at HBTU (Harcourt Butler Technical University), Kanpur through AKTU/UPTU counseling.
So, your CRL (Common Rank List) rank is around 61,800 .
Generally, the OBC rank is around 25-30% of the CRL rank.
Estimated OBC-NCL rank = 15,000 - 18,500.
If CSE seems tight, you can still get some excellent branches like:
Best Wishes.
Hello Aditya,
The CSE cut off in computer science in HBTU was 22184 for the other state quota and for the Uttar Pradesh domicile quota, it was also the same. So you should get around 98 percentile in order to get the cse branch in this college.
However the cut off may vary due to certain factors such as number of candidates appearing in the examination, previous year cutoffs and difficulty level of the examination and the number of seats available in the college.
