Course Overview

The Pericyclic Reactions and Organic Photochemistry program aims to make the participants comfortable in two important advanced organic chemistry topics: organic photochemistry and organic reactions. It will cover all the major topics in both the sections using video lectures, assignments, and tutorial sections.

The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) has crafted the syllabus for the Pericyclic Reactions and Organic Photochemistry certification. NPTEL is an initiative of seven IITs in the country, whereas Swayam is an online learning platform, an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Professor Sankararaman from IIT Madras will be the educator for the course.

Moreover, Pericyclic Reactions and Organic Photochemistry is an online course that provides free course material and an e-certificate for interested participants. It is eight weeks long and a core postgraduate course in chemistry. It is an AICTE-approved FDP course.

Eligibility Criteria

Pericyclic Reactions and Organic Photochemistry program participants must complete an introductory course in organic chemistry, reaction mechanics, and stereochemistry to completely comprehend the course material.

Certificate Qualifying Details

Moreover, the eligibility criteria for the certificate qualification are three-fold.

Candidates must submit all eight assignments, of which, the best six assignments will be used and averaged to determine the assignment score. The assignment score carries a 25% weightage in the final score. Candidates must score 10/25 or above to qualify.

Candidates must also appear for an offline exam. The exam score carries a 75% weightage in the final score. They must secure 30/75 and above for qualification.

The final score will be determined by adding the exam score and the assignment score. Candidates must score 40/100 or above for certificate qualification. Only individuals who fulfill all three criteria will receive the certificate.
