To get into IIT for M.Sc. after B.Sc. Geology you need to give entrance exam known as IIT JAM. You will get admission in IIT on the basis of your IIT JAM score.

Eligibility for IIT JAM :

Get at least 55% in B.Sc. for general/obc student.

Get at least 50% in B.Sc. for sc/st/obc students.

According to your query , Chances is there to get but you can try lower rank accepted IITs like Probability cutoff changes every year and the candidates have a rank below 400 which has high chances for IIT but campus like delhi ,Bombay ,madras accept rank below 400.  You can apply for government colleges in the domicile state  for security such that if you are doesn't get in IIT then government college will be the last option .

Communication Systems: This specialization has more job opportunities in ece department, you can get a job in either software or core or networking companies. which has more chance to get any job.

Embedded systems and VLSI Systems: In this you can get opportunity in either embedded programming companies or VLSI companies,. If you have any interested in software field you can enter in to that also but you need to learn some programming languages like c,c++.Now a days there are so many VLSI based companies are there, so you can get job either on or off campus.

Signal Processing and Image processing: This is also one of the good branch in M.tech, if any company open recruitment in DSP profile then they will call us.Software field is the optional any branch can eligible.

Computer Engineering: Some colleges take admissions to this branch from ECE department also,but there are few number of seats.This one provide high opportunities in software and IT field and Networking field.

VLSI will be the best branch as it is very rare skill and in great demand if combined with skill of PLC.

If you consider last year cutoffs then you can get Signal Processing but chances are pretty bleak in IIT G. Sometimes a rank with 1200 gets a seat in IIT Guwahati. It happened in 2018 i think. So you can keep your hopes high.

Otherwise you can also try in Winter Session with your GATE score.

see cutoff scores changes year to year and depends on various factors , according to previous years cutoff  you have decent chances for  iit guwahati, iit roorkee ece branches,  you have decent score to qualify for interdisciplinary branches, at this score you have fare chances for nits like nit durgapur, nit bhopal, nit harimpur etc.

First priority should be given to Your interest if you are concerned about job then you should go for CSE at IIT Gandhinagar and if you are oriented towards research then you can go for applied mathematics but remember at Gandhinagar you will not witness the two century legacy and world class infrastructure and networking.
