Last year a candidate belonging to general category with rank 20915 (home state) secured admission to Mechanical Engineering in National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. A with rank 16075 (Other state) belonging to general category secured admission to Mechanical Engineering in National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. Considering the previous year cut off you need to secure rank in between 15000-20000. To secure such rank you need to score 99 percentile or above and you should aim to score minimum 250-260 marks or above in JEE Main. Cut off is subjected to change it may increase of decrease depending on total number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of examination and total number of seats available etc. To check the previous year cut off use the link below

it depends. but the answer will be yes. just because it is IIT people assume that it is better that NITs but NIT rourkela is better than some IITs as it is In the year 2020, NIRF has NIT Rourkela ranked 19 and IIT Bhubaneswar ranked 26. As a result, NIT Rourkela is ranked higher than IIT Bhubaneswar.

NIT Rourkela has improved infrastructure, overall development, exposure, and curriculum, and now that it is one of three NITs, there is even more to look forward to.

hence, NIT Rourkela is better than some IITs.

If you were to take my opinion then you should opt for nit Rourkela because its ranking is better both in management and engineering and it is also more renowned than mnit Jaipur.

In terms of placements both these nits are at par because the average package is not much as compared to a top B school. The average package in management is around 5-6L per annum in both the nits so i would recommend you to kindly if possible opt for other college which has strong alumini network in management and has good placement stats.

it is quite difficult to tell only about one is specialisation that's why I am mentioning the the placement details of overall courses. The National Institute of Technology Rourkela placement details of master of technology are as follows:

1. There are 178 job offers made in the year 2020 for master of technology students.
2. The lowest salary package which was offered in the institute was 2.40 lacs per annum.
3. The average placement package which was offered in the institute was 8.89 lacs per annum
4. The highest placement package which was offered in the institute was lacs per annum.
5. Out of 178 offers 42 placement offers were made for electronic systems and communication engineering students.

On the official website no such information is available as they have mentioned information course wise (like btech complete) and industry wise though overall the average package at per 2019 stats was 9.03lac approximate and median was 6.53 approximate it completely depends on institute whether it want to disclose its placement data but overall nit rourkela is a good institute.
