yes, you can get direct admission in vit for second year(lateral entry), all you need is 45% marks from a std college.you can check further details from below link,

VIT gives an average Placement chance for Automobile engineering. Ofcourse top companies like Maruti Suzuki, Ford, TVS , Tata motors, Mahindra, Escorts, Mercedes Benz( only for M.Tech students). The highest package is ₹6,00,000 lakhs in this field.

College Infrastructure
Vellore Institute of Technology has a really nice infrastructure with clean classrooms, labs, library and hostels. Wi-Fi is only available for 20 hours as it gets switched off around midnight. Campus is big and nice, but it can get crowded. Hostels are very hygienic as they get cleaned daily.
