      Undergraduate Admission Requirements

      Eligibility

      • For applicants studying under Indian or similar school boards (CBSE, CISCE, IB, Cambridge, State Boards, etc.), you need at least a “B” grade.
      • This means:
        • CBSE: minimum cumulative average of 61% (B2)
        • CISCE: minimum cumulative average of 50% (Second Class)
        • IB: minimum subject score of 5
        • GCSE / IGCSE: minimum grade 6
        • A and AS Levels: minimum grade C or equivalent “Credit”/“Good” rating in your board’s scheme
      • These are minimum eligibility thresholds for your application to be considered.
        Meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission.

      English Proficiency Requirements

      • Unless you qualify for a waiver, you must show English proficiency through one of these tests:
        • TOEFL iBT: 80+ overall, with 20+ in each band
        • IELTS (paper or center‑based): 6.5+ overall, with 6.0+ in each band
        • Duolingo English Test: 115+ overall, with 115+ in all subscores

      English Proficiency Waivers

      You may be exempt from submitting an English test score if you have the following minimum scores:

      • SAT EBRW: 550 or higher
      • ACT English: 25 or higher
      • AP English: score of 4 or 5
      • IB HL English: 5, 6 or 7
      • GCE/GCSE/IGCSE English: grade A or B
      • Standard XII English: Minimum B average (60%+) from CBSE, CISCE, or state boards
      • Gaokao English: score of 120

      Waivers also apply if you have completed one of the following language programs/levels:

      • Illinois Tech – IEP Level 4
      • Kaplan Advanced Level
      • ELS Level 112
      • The Language Company Level 9

      Academic Eligibility – International Applicants

      • Minimum three-year undergraduate degree (any field; not necessarily computer science or a related field)
      • Overall GPA of 3.0/4.0

      Academic Background

      • Applicants without a bachelor’s degree in computer science must have prerequisite undergraduate coursework with a grade B or better in either:
        • Accelerated Computer Science
        • Object-Oriented Programming I and II

      Computer Science (M.S.)

      Academic Eligibility – Indian Applicants

      • Minimum four-year undergraduate degree in computer science or a related discipline
      • 60% cumulative average (Second Class) or a “7”/“Good” rating

      Academic Eligibility – International Applicants

      • Minimum four-year undergraduate degree in computer science or a related discipline
      • Overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher

      Academic Background

      • Applicants from related fields such as electrical and computer engineering are eligible and may be asked to complete one or two prerequisite courses.
      • Applicants from non-CS backgrounds (e.g., civil or mechanical engineering) are not eligible, as these programs typically do not include core CS coursework.
      • In exceptional cases, applicants from non-CS backgrounds with significant professional experience, certifications, or substantial coursework in computer science may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
      • Three-year bachelor’s degree holders are not considered unless they also hold a master’s degree.

      Data Science (M.A.S.)

      Academic Eligibility – Indian Applicants

      • Minimum three-year undergraduate degree from NAAC “A” or better institutions
      • 60% cumulative average (Second Class) or a “7”/“Good” rating

      Academic Eligibility – International Applicants

      • Minimum three-year undergraduate degree (not necessarily in computer science)

      Academic Background

      • Applicants are reviewed individually but are expected to have basic knowledge of:
        • Discrete mathematics
        • Linear algebra
        • Probability and statistics
        • Relational databases
        • At least one programming language such as MATLAB, C++, Java, Python, or Ruby

      Prerequisite Coursework

      • Applicants who lack some of this preparation but are otherwise strong (for example, with relevant work experience) may still be admitted.
