NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre and Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur Admission Process

Nagpur's NKP-Salve Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center with Lata Mangeshkar Hospital and is one of the oldest and most desirable medical colleges. The admission pathway is purely on merit and selectivity.  The admission is conducted through various entrance examinations at the national level, aiming at selecting the brightest and most deserving candidates. The Institute has undergraduate admission based on NEET -UG scores. NEET-UG is tentatively conducted every year, and counselling will continue till the month of December.

The admission for postgraduate MD and MS courses will depend on the scores achieved in NEET-PG. The minimum eligibility for admission to undergraduate courses requires the completion of 10+2 studies from any recognized board, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects. In most cases, a mark requirement of at least 50 percent in the qualifying examination is required. The postgraduate candidate should complete his/her MBBS degree program from some recognized university.

Application Process

Application procedures at NKP Salve Institute differ depending upon the course:

For MBBS:

1. Obtain an NEET UG exam qualification.

2. Register for state level or all India counseling as up to the applicability.

3. Attend counseling with document verification and seat allotment.

4. If a seat is allotted, report to the institute to complete admissions and pay the fees.

For MD/MS Programs:

1. Qualify for the NEET PG examination.

2. Register for a centralized counselling process (usually held by state or central authorities).

3. Attend multiple rounds of counselling including document verification and allotment of the seat.

4. If allotted a seat, appearing at the institute to carry out the admission procedure. 

For M.Ch Programs:

1. Qualify for the NEET SS examination.

2. Register for the super-specialty counselling process.

3. Participate in counselling and seat allotment.

4. Complete the admission formalities at the institute if selected.

Commonly required documents include

  • NEET score card (UG/PG/SS as relevant)
  • 10th-12th mark sheets and certificates
  • MBBS degree certificate and mark sheets (for PG admission)
  • MD/MS degree certificate (for super-specialty admission)
  • ID proof
  • Domicile Certificate (if applicable)
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)
  • Medical fitness certificate

Degree-wise Admission Procedures

MBBS: The institute admits 200 students in the MBBS course, on the basis of NEET UG result and counselling of candidates. Students must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

MD: There are 82 available seats for the MD course with the 11 specializations. The basis for admission is NEET PG. Some Among the specializations are:

  1. MD Anatomy (3 seats),
  2. MD Anaesthesiology (12 seats),
  3. MD General Medicine (18 seats),
  4. MD Paediatrics (10 seats),
  5. MD Pathology (12 seats). 

MS: For the MS Programme, the institution offers 45 vacancies advanced with 5 specializations where the admission is based on NEET PG. Specializations include:

  1. MS General Surgery(16),
  2. MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology (11),
  3. MS Ophthalmology (5),
  4. MS Orthopaedics(8),
  5. MS ENT (5).

For M.Ch: Two seats will be allotted during super-specialty M.Ch programs, one each for Plastic Surgery and Paediatrics Surgery. The basis for admission is NEET SS.

BAMS comes under the Ayush Counselling. Now for the predictor there are only the All India Quota college predictor for the course but not for the state college predictor. A total of 52,720 seats in 914 BAMS, BHMS, BSMS, and BNYS colleges will be offered through NEET 2021 counselling.
