Peerless College of Nursing, Kolkata Admission Process

The Peerless College of Nursing, Kolkata and is a premier institution for nursing education. The college provides three full time nursing curriculum and recognized by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. The Peerless College of Nursing admission procedure is aimed to get the best-qualified candidates to be placed in the various nursing programs. Different admission procedures are followed by the college in different courses. B.sc. Nursing admissions are conducted through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board. Based on the entrance examination result, candidates are selected for counseling. The admission into Post Basic B.sc Nursing programs is conducted throwing the Common Nursing Entrance Examination and Counselling by West Bengal University of Health Sciences. 

The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) program requires admission determined by the applicant's 10+2 results. Admission is further confirmed after a review and/or admission test. Potential students are advised that Peerless College of Nursing is entirely for female candidates. The institution has been accredited by the Indian Nursing Council and the quality of education is ensured to meet national standards in nursing education.

Application Process

Application process is different for each program at Peerless College of Nursing:

For B.Sc. Nursing :

  1. Register for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination.
  2. Appear for the entrance examination at the scheduled date.
  3. In case of eligibility, the candidate may be asked to participate in the counseling process conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board
  4. Submit required documents and pay necessary fees if allotted a seat.

For Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing :

  1. Apply for Common Nursing Entrance Examination by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences .
  2. Appear for the entrance examination.
  3. Participate in the counselling process against eligibility.
  4. Complete other admission formalities such as document verification and payment of fees.

For GNM:

  1. Collect the application form either from college or download from the official website.
  2. Fill in the application form correctly.
  3. Submit filled application form along with other required documents, which include 10+2 mark sheets.
  4. Candidates must appear for an interview and/or admission test as per the schedule laid down by the college.
  5. If selected, complete admission processing by submitting original documents and making the required payment.

Generally, all required documents are as follows for each of the programs:

  • Filled in application form
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Transfer certificate from the last attended institution
  • Character certificate
  • Medical fitness certificate
  • Passport size photographs
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Any other prescribed documents in the time of admission by college

Admission Process According to Degrees

This B.Sc. Nursing course is a full-time four-year program for which there are 30 seats allocated. Admissions are conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board. Selections are made based on performance in Entrance Examination followed by the counseling process. Eligibility criteria generally require :

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing: This is a two-year ostensive program with 40 intakes. The student's admission is via the Common Nursing Entrance Examination and Counselling conducted by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. An applicant for this program has to first finish GNM programs.

General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM): It is a three-year course with an intake capacity of 40. The admission procedure is based on the candidates' performance in their 10+2 examinations and the possibility of an interview and/or admission test. The course is aimed at those pursuing nursing after finishing their higher secondary education.
