The college has a boys’ hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. The hostel has facilities for steam cooking, reverse osmosis water, 24-hour internet, an STD booth, and a general store. A facility for an on-call doctor is available for 24 hours and transportation is also made available in an emergency.

The College Central Library serves as the central support service of SSM College of Engineering. The mission of the Central Library is to provide the right information services to the right readers at the right time and access to bibliographic and full-text printed resources to support the scholarly and informational needs of the Institute Community. The Central Library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of CD-ROMs, Online databases, audio-video cassettes, books, e-journals, patents, e-standards, theses, reports, monographs, etc. The Central Library is fully automated with more than 50,000 books and about 350 Journals as well as online Journals on various Disciplines.

The college has CITIUS ALTIUS FORTIUS – Fastest, Highest, and Strongest is the motto of physical education. SSM encourages students to be healthy in body and mind. Sports provide an excellent opportunity for students to interact with each other, develop the true sportsman spirit, and also help them stay healthy. The students of SSMCE are divided into four groups and are reshuffled every year so as to develop a sense of comradeship and kinship. The students participate in fair voting to select their captains and vice-captains. Our students have represented in inter-university competitions and bagged several medals & trophies in various sports and games. The College regularly conducts state-level intercollegiate men and women ‘Chevalier’ Dr. Shivaji Ganesan Volleyball tournament sponsored by the Sivaji- – Prabhu charitable trust in order to inculcate the importance of sportsmanship. Adding to the above, the Sivaji – Prabhu Kabaddi tournament for men is also been conducted and various colleges participate to bag the rolling trophy. Outdoor games such as Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Shuttle cork, and Tennis are also available for students in order to keep them physically fit. Students are encouraged to play indoor games such as Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, etc...

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars. Apart from the seminar and conference halls, SSM College of Engineering is proud to have its newly built state-of-the-art auditorium. This auditorium has a seating capacity of 3000 and facilitates conducting huge functions such as Convocations, Youth festivals, Annual day celebrations, and so on.

The college has a transport facility for students and staff. The College provides transport facilities with more than 20 buses and three vans for the convenience of staff and students from the nearest point of departure and to attend to the needs of industrial visits, educational tours, etc.

The college Decennial Alumni Day Celebration “The 10th Alumni Meet” Was organized By The Alumni Association of SSM College of Engineering on 2nd Feb 2014, Many Alumni Students Came from Different Places. Alumni Students from the First Batch year 2002 – till the Last Year Passed out Batches Participated in this meet. We Could See the Happiness on their face to see SSM again and also the Old Memories in SSM, Which Made their eyes wet. They shared their present status regarding their family, living place, and work. They also shared their experience of what they got out of learning in SSM. What they got out of work to the present final year students. They also gave guidance for the Placement. Mr.J. Balaji – Secretary AASSMCE gave the welcome Address, Our Hon’ble Chairman ‘Cavalier’ Dr.M.S.Mathivanan – Chief Patron, AASSMCE gave the Presidential Address, Dr.A.Subramanian – Principal, Chief Advisor AASSMCE - Felicitated the function and the Newsletter of SSM Alumni Association Was Released.

The training and placement department helps prepare engineering graduates and passed-out students to find suitable jobs in reputed organizations. This cell works outplacement strategies based on current as well as further job markets and takes into account the emerging job profile so that these may provide upward mobility in the career graphs of our students. Invitations are sent to the prospective companies/organizations along with all relevant information to participate in the campus recruitment. Regular correspondence is maintained with various industries. Personal visits by the Training and Placement Officer, to many companies also serve to build and maintain relations with the companies. The cell maintains a branch-wise list of industries and encourages students to approach the companies independently in case that particular company does not have a policy for Campus Recruitment. The cell maintains a branch-wise record of all current appearing students in the Final Year through the collection of their resumes. Based on the requirements prescribed by the company, the eligible candidates are invited to appear for the tests/interviews that are conducted by the visiting companies. The T & P also maintains a list of past students and passes this list to companies who specifically come for pass-out students. The T & P cell looks after all arrangements to be made for the purpose of conducting campus interviews including everything from, the Pre-Placement Talk, to the written tests, to the final interviews The Training and Placement Cell firmly believes in taking feedback from the companies that have visited since the feedback from the company serves as a yardstick regarding the performance of the students. This helps the Training and Placement Cell in concentrating on various areas for improvement in the students. We believe that our students are like 'uncut diamonds' who need to be guided in the right direction to acquire their luster.

LEO Club

In 1957, the Glenside Lions Club, Pennsylvania, USA began the first Leo club with 35 students from Abington High School. Leo leaders use their self-confidence, intelligence, and communication skills to make decisions, which bring their clubs success. It helps in building a strong club by participating in and leading meetings, committees, and projects.
All Leos are asked to use their talents for the good of their community. They will gain and expand their skills by researching the needs of the community and club and developing ways to meet those needs.

HAM Club

Amateur radio is a community of people who use radio transmitters and receivers to communicate with other Amateur radio operators. The things that amateur radio operators do with their radios are as diverse as the people themselves. Amateur radio operators are often called ham radio operators or simply "hams".
Amateur (HAM) Radio is both a Hobby activity and a Service. It is an activity of self-learning, Inter-Communication, and technical Investigation carried out by duly authorized persons (i.e. Amateur Radio Operators) for a personal aim and without pecuniary interest. There are over 30 lakh people all over the world who pursue this activity in their free time, in India, we have around 15000 amateur radio operators.
Amateur Radio Operators have to qualify in an examination conducted by the Ministry of Communications & IT, Government of India, and obtain a license for operating/possessing a Radio Station.

Rotaract Club 

Rotary Club is a worldwide organization, spread over 167 countries having 12 lakh Rotarians in 31 thousand clubs. First Rotary club was started in the year 1905. The founder of the Rotary Club is Paul Harris.

Y's Youth Club

A Y's Youth Club is part of the International Association of Y's Men's Clubs which is a worldwide fellowship of persons of all faiths working together in mutual respect and affection, based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and with a common loyalty to the Young Men's Christian Association, striving through active service to develop, encourage and provide leadership to build a better world for all people and officially recognized as a partner.
Y’s Youth Clubs are intended open to young people between 15 - and 30 years of age and, in accordance with the Y's Youth Club formation Guidelines, the members of Y's Youth Clubs do not pay any dues (Regional, Area, or International). The Club receives a charter certificate from Y's Men International but does not have voting rights in International elections and it is not included in the official membership statistics. Y’s Youth Clubs are intended to facilitate the transition of young people to Y's Men's Clubs.

Yoga & Meditation Club

Each student practices yoga in day-to-day life, to improve their flexibility, balance, endurance, and physical strength, Meditation helps to keep the mind sharp and clear, relieves stress, and improves overall well-being, which deals with mental relaxation and concentration among the students. Here, attention is focused on thoughts and breath. Being aware of breathing automatically controls the thought process and thus relaxes the mind completely.

Music & Fine Arts

Fine Arts & Music Club at SSM College of Engineering is a voluntary organization dedicated to the promotion of Indian Classical Music, Carnatic, RAP & creative skills especially among the student community endeavoring to encourage the appreciation of the traditional form of music among youth in general. For the past 12 years Fine Arts and Music Club has been bringing quality Indian Classical music to the campsites of SSM, as well as to the general public.
