find the dimension of resistance
Hey!
The dimentional formula/abbreviation for resistance is : [M1 L2 T(-3) I(-2)]. in this formula, M is mass, L is length, T is time and I is current.
It is derived as:
As we know, Resistance = Voltage/ current
And, voltage (V) = Electric Field × Distance = [Force / charge] × Distance (eqn 1)
where, dimensions of force are : [ M1 L1 T(-2)]
Dimensions of charge are: [I1 T1]^(-1)
Dimensions of Length are: [L1]
And then putting all these dimentions in eqn1 , we get
Dimensions of Voltage(V); [M1 L2T(-3) I(-1)]
Now, Resistance = voltage / current (as said earlier)
Putting the dimensions of volatage and current in it, we get
Resistance = [M1 L2 T(-3) I(-2)]
Thankyou!
