Hello ,
As you query is that you want to choose in between IIT Mandi for EE or chemical engineering at IIT Guwahati. I would like to tell you that both the the branches have their own importance and they are core subjects. Further based on the placement and salary package from the analysis of last 4 years of IIT Mandi and IIT Guwahati I would like to tell you that it's better to apply for chemical engineering at IIT Guwahati because the placement and salary package is better there and as well as IIT Guwahati is more reputed then IIT Mandi.
Further I would like to highlight this that at last it's all about your interest that you are interested in EE or chemical engineering and then only you should choose your branch but based on my opinion and analysis I will conclude to take admission in IIT Guwahati for chemical engineering.
I hope your query is solved.
Thank you.
Hi Aspirant
All these options are great options.
Since you have no specific interest in any particular branch it comes down to picking up the right college.
There are a few things that must be kept in mind while choosing the college:
a) Alumni Network - The older the college the better Alumni Network youw have and that helps a lot. In that case IIT Roorkee will be the best option for you.
b) Location - You must keep in mind that location plays a very major role. In case you decide to go for higher studies you must see which city will give you better opportunities for coaching.
c) Ranking - Going by the NIRF Rankings, the order would be IIT Roorkee then IIT Guwahati then IIT BHU.
Hope this helps. All the Best.
Hii Sahil,
The placements for graduates in Engineering physics in IIT Guwahati are really good.Engineering Physics is an enormous branch.About 75% students get placed every year. The average package given is around 15 lakhs p.a.
Go through the link below to find out more about the placements in IIT Guwahati:

Hope this helps!!
Hi ! If you ask me then my answer is IIT Guwahati ECE. There is a reason behind it. In IIT Dhanbad cs is not a special branch. EE us not a hot stream in current market due to low level of job prospect. Same m & c in IIT BHU. Now IIT Patna is not a good IIT at all. Left with ECE which is less competitive in nature with evergreen stream. So hope you understand and best of luck to you.
Hey,
IIT Guwahati is one the best IITs that can be achieved by clearing the cut-off of jee advanced paper with a good score.
The average package offered by this college is 15.59 lakhs per annum.
The placement statics for EEE and ECE branch in thus college is as follows-
Electronics ans Electric Engineering-84%
Electronics and Communication Engineering-84.21%
So the placements at IIT Guwahati are very good for the ECE and EEE branch students.
Hope you are staisfied with this answer, please upvote me and you can ask anything in the comment box.
Hello student,
If you are interested in CSE then you must definitely go for CSE in IIT Patna because after when you get admission into in any college the most important thing will be your academics and interest in the subject. If branch doesn't matter much then college wise you can go for IIT Guwahati as it has a higher ranking and better facilities and good college life.
Cheers!
Dear Ashish
For your rank of 480 and category is SC , you have a chance to get IIT Guwahati. But you cant get it in the first or second round of counselling. As candidates with higher rank than you have occupied the seats but few candidates leave their seats for better seats. So you can have a chance to have seat during the 4th round of counselling or spot round counselling. So keep checking the official website for real time information. I hope it helped
Dear Aspirant,
Congratulations for cracking the joint entrance examination (advance).
You have interest in Indian institute of technology BHU and Indian institute of technology, Guwahati, Assam.
According to me, you can definitely opt for Electronics and communication engineering in Indian institute of technology, Guwahati.
ECE is a very demanding branch compared to Electronics and electrical engineering.
The placement chance and research scope is very much high in ECE. So you can give importance the ECE branch.
Best of luck.
Last but not least, you have to keep in mind that placement depends upon the ability of a student.
All IITs are very good.
Hope it helps.
Hello,
It's delightful to know that you are eligible for both the esteemed colleges for a branch in-demand like ECE. IIIT Hyderabad is one of the best colleges of India for circuit related branches. The sheer location of IIIT Hyderabad makes it a better college for job prospects. The updated curriculum of IIIT Hyderabad makes it a better option for ECE branch than IIT BHU or IIT Guwahati Chemical. As per the Information, only 60% of eligible students in IIT Guwahati got placed and the average package was around 14 lac. While IIIT H offered 100% placements. So if you are studying engineering for Jobs you should be choosing IIIT H. Traditional IIT tag is very helpful in your early career and if you are dedicated enough you can slide branches in IIT-G. Thus, it's really your choice.
The reason why I am not even discussing IIT-BHU is that until you have a lot of interest in Mechanical, it stands a bit below IIT Guwahati or IIIT Hyderabad.
In my opinion, you should leave IIIT Hyderabad only for OLD 5 IITs(B, D, M, K, KGP).
Hi Nikhil,
If you opt for CSE in new IITs, the benefit is that you'll be studying CSE- the most sought after branch, because of higher job opportunities and packages. If you study sincerely for 4 years, you'll be placed in a good company. But that will be the case only if you are genuinely interested in CSE. Keep that in mind.
The infrastructure in new IITs(especially bhilai or goa, which don't have proper campus of its own), isn't remotely as par as the already well established IITs.
New IITs, also don't have placement data, so you don't even know how many companies are approaching the campus for placement.
New IITs don't have adequate no. of professors, as that in old IITs.
You won't be able to enjoy campus life as well as in the newly established IITs, as in the old IITs. Old IITs conduct huge fests, through out the year.
Also, there is a branch change rule which allows students to change their branch from one stream to other(like from Civil to CSE), based upon your performance in first year of college. This option isn't that reliable as you'll be competing against iitians, and cut-offs for branch change may go upto 9.8 in some cases. I'd suggest reading the branch change rules of the IITs, from their respective websites.
Thank you.
We have the best infrastructure, the classrooms are really big that can accomodate 80 students easily and also lecture halls of capacity 200. There are well equiped laboratories. Library is very large containing more than 50000 books. The mess maintainance and food are very hygenic.
impressive infrastructure , vibrant academics environment , modern classrooms with advanced technology , well stocked libraries , sports are best , hostel are good . the infrastructure significantly enhances the educational experiences.
Infrastructure is really good; at most places, you will get Wi-Fi. The library is also excellent. It's very comfortable reading in the library. The classroom is good, facilities are good—everything is good. In the hostel, you will get sufficient washing machines and a water cooler on each floor.
