Course Overview

The Soft Skill Development course by Swayam primarily aims to help candidates polish their communication skills by raising relevant issues and practical scenarios. The extensive curriculum provides various critical pointers and tips for the candidates to utilise their soft skills in their workplace and social environments. Several vital topics are the key focus of this programme, such as persuasion skills, group skills, emotional and positive thinking skills, conversational and vocational skills.

The Soft Skill Development certification syllabus is IIT Kharagpur’s curation, taught by the institute’s top faculty, Professors V.N. Giri, D. Suar, and Priyadarshi Patnaik. It is an elective programme under the “Humanities and Social Sciences” category that takes around eight weeks to complete. The curriculum supports PG and UG-level learning and is therefore open to any learner.

The Soft Skill Development online course is rife with video tutorials and study material for candidates to access at their own pace. They will also be eligible for an e-certificate after completing the programme, for which they must appear for a certification exam when the term concludes.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates aspiring to participate in the Soft Skill Development training by Swayam must understand English. They must also have basic knowledge in communications and possess communication skills.

Certification qualifying details

While evaluating the candidates’ overall performance, Swayam gives 75% weightage to the certification test and 25% weightage to their internal assessments’ marks (average of the six best-scored ones out of eight). So, to be eligible for certification, the candidate must score at least 30 out of 75 in the end-term exam and have an average internal assessment score of at least 10 out of 25.

Admission Details

Step 1 – Preview the Soft Skill Development online programme - https://onlinecourses.nptel.ac.in/noc21_hs07/preview.

Step 2 – Begin your registration by locating and hitting the “Sign-in/Register” tab.

Step 3 – You can either sign-in instantly via your Facebook account, Google ID or Microsoft social account, or you can create an account in Swayam.

Step 4 – To create a new account, provide your details while signing up and hit “Send verification code”.

Step 5 – A verification code will reach your email ID. Enter the code to confirm your account.

Step 6 – Complete enrolment by hitting the “Create” tab.

Application Details

Learners need not complete admission forms for the Soft Skill Development certification course. They can enter their username, password, and email ID to complete their sign-up form. If they do not have a pre-existing account in Swayam, they can choose to log in via their Google or Microsoft ID or Facebook account.

Evaluation process

Aspirants who wish to get certified for the Soft Skill Development online course must appear for a certification exam at the end of the programme. This will be an offline test in a proctor’s presence.

The candidate must fill out the registration form once Swayam announces the exam registration commencement online. Students must be present at the designated test centre on the date and time provided in the online form. Swayam will hold this exam in two sessions - morning and afternoon.
