In this era of globalisation and mongering threat of cybersecurity attacks, developing secure and efficient computer systems and the regime has become inevitable for every organisation touched by the digital revolution. Information Security - 5 - Secure Systems Engineering by SWAYAM discusses everything one needs to know about information security and the engineering of secure systems to build a strong conceptual idea of the same.

The syllabus deals with various challenges and issues in systems and mechanisms by which they can be mitigated. The first part will cover such security threats which can hamper the system health and can lead to major cyberattacks. To understand them in-depth, the course will also discuss how such vulnerabilities could arise from simple programming flaws like a buffer that overflows to complicated application runtime characteristics that are demonstrated through side-channels like the power consumption of the device and execution time.

Evaluation process

The certification exam for Security - 5 - Secure Systems Engineering Certification Course will be the sum of the average of 6 out of 8 assignments in this course which will carry 25% weightage in the final score and the main examination which will carry 75% weightage. Course takers must secure at least 10/25 and 30/75 in them respectively to receive their certification.

1: By what time will the fee be refunded if a student cancels the course?

Refund of examination fees will be initiated only after two weeks from the date of cancellation.

2: Is there any minimum age limit for enrolling for this course?

Yes, the minimum age limit for pursuing Security - 5 - Secure Systems Engineering online course is 13 years.

3: Can the videos lectures be accessed offline?

Yes, learners can download the lectures to watch them offline. Besides this, they can download the transcript of the video in case of connectivity problems.

SC/ST applicants will have to pay only 50% of the certification fee, that is, Rs. 500.

9: Can the designated centre, time or date for the examination be changed?

No, once the admit card is issued, no request for any changes in the centre, date or time specified in the hall ticket will be entertained.

10: Can any error in the certificate be rectified?

Yes, it can be done once but the student will have to additionally pay Rs. 200 to NPTEL.
